How to install:
* Copy the image puredebian.tga in /usr/share/images/grub/
* Edit the file /etc/grub.d/05_debian_theme :

BEFORE SETTINGS:
WALLPAPER="/usr/share/images/desktop-base/moreblue-orbit-grub.png"
COLOR_NORMAL="black/black"
COLOR_HIGHLIGHT="magenta/black"

AFTER SETTINGS:
WALLPAPER="/usr/share/images/grub/puredebian.tga"
COLOR_NORMAL="white/black"
COLOR_HIGHLIGHT="black/white"

* For the new configuration is updated in grub2, in teminal (konsole or xterm) and as su (root), use the command: update-grub

How to install a grub theme:

  1. Extract the theme to /boot/grub/themes/

  2. Edit /etc/default/grub file. Find the line starting with "#GRUB_THEME" and change it to "GRUB_THEME=/boot/grub/themes/[THEME_FOLDER]/[theme.txt]" (replace [THEME_FOLDER] ; [theme.txt] is probably OK ; remove "[]" brackets)

  3. Run sudo update-grub
