Description:

After two years of hard work, it is now finally time to release the 1.0 version of Crystal SVG

This is probably the biggest update of Crystal, allot of icons have been redesigned, others have been added, special care was given to Koffice and Kopete.

Thanks to:

Connectiva - For financing me in the beginning of this project

Suse - For supporting me and the project in 2003

Lindows - Who has hired me as their staff, and will support Crystal from now on.

LinuxCult - Who thru NullMind hosts my sites and online projects.

And to my Wife .. who has been patient and very forgiving for all the time I spend on the project instead of with her, and to God almihty who makes it all possible.

And last, a special thanks to all the KDE developers who make it the best desktop manager out there !!

Than you for everything

* - Altorught this version is known as "SVG", the icons are still in PNG format, the SVG files will be relased once the support for the format improves in KDE.

whenever the beep icons comes up (eg due to tab completion) the konsole window gets resizded for that moment
seems like the beep icon got some different size or theres a bug somewhere in the svg code

COOL! Though honestly I can't seem to find any applications that I use on SUSE 9 which have not been crystalized =) But thana gain, I have not isntalled half the applications SUSE comes with and I'ms ure people with a careful eye will notice ways to improve the icons.

I'm also wodnering, will 1.1 be ready for 3.2 or will 3.2 ship with 1.0? ANd finally will it be the SVG format that KDE 3.2 will ship with or will it still be PNG?

He cleared up the whole issue

I'm very pleased with what Lindows has been doing in the past year and very happy that you are working for them. Much more so than SUSE. Why? SUSE just isn't as focused on the desktop as Lindows and they definitely don't have the same level of dedication.

Great stuff!
... except for the home icon which is ... "ugly".
Could you use something like the "folder_home" in the filesystems subdirectory or the "home" of the sparkling icons.

Thanks a lot for your work Everaldo!

Just a little comment: I have noticed that you have created new icons for Koffice. While they look great at higher resolutions, I think that they do not scale down very well. The small versions appearing in the K-menu are not readily recognizable:

- Small Kspread icon: looks more like a calculator than a spread sheet to me.
- Small Kword and KPresenter icons: Both look fuzzy.
- Small kivio icon: looks very different from the others (and therefore out of place).

Furthermore, I think that the "Remove Active View" icon in konqueror doesn't fit anymore to the "Split view" icons.

Again, thanks a lot for your very nice icons!

Really really awesome icons. The new folder icons are the best. Just amazing how far the crystal icons have come along from their first release.

I would echo the comments made above. Some of the new icons look very blurry even at 48x48. Hope you'll fix and release em before kde 3.2 comes out.

This is brilliant! No wonder it's the standard on virtually every distor there is (apart from RedHat, but who cares about them). Seems like the publishers are also appreciating your effort, and supporting you. Apropos support: Kudos to your wife for magnanimity. It's obvious that a lot of time and love has been spent on this.

I don't know if I am missing something or not but are these files suppose to be in SVG format. I have downloaded the archives and they are all PNG files.

Is there another archive I should be downloading.

Thanks,

I agree with what everyone else said. Amazingly done.

My only complaint is that I can't seem to find a Firebird icon.

What theme/style is that and what window decor?

Por favor Everaldo, qual é esse tema e esse Window Decoration? Fui ao seu site e também não encontrei.

i think the win deco and the style are just mock up.
on the left of the konqueror window, /home is selected but the location bar shows /dev, while the right does not show the content of /dev!

did anyone get the answer to what window decoration he is using? I tried to email him in order to find out about the window decoration but he can not confirm if the window decoration exists or not. At least I think he can not as I never got a reply from him. A lot of people must have head the same idea as me and maybe he choses to remain misterious. ;-)

These are the best icons I have seen so far. Congrats on your new addition to your family.

By the way, can anyone tell me where to find the window decoration used in the screenshot. Everything looks awesome.

Don't uncompress it. Click "Install New Theme", and select the archive's location.
