OpenOffice.org1.1 toolbar icon themes

Various KDE 1.-4. Styles

Description:

This is a tcl script for generating OOo toolbar/menu icon themes, from kde (or other) icon sets.

Rather than focusing on individual themes for each icon set, I decided to provide a tool so that the users can create their own custom icon themes. That said, some common icon-themes from kde-look are enclosed (base = crystal).

Install
-------

Extract the downloaded file.
* To install the default theme in OOo 1.1.x, run:
"tclsh quickInstall.tcl"

* To install any custom themes,
Specify your OOo config directory in config.tcl and the theme directory, run:
"tclsh genbar.tcl"
Last changelog:

* OOo config directory is now backed up before continuing.

* Several new icons, total > 150 (22x22)

* New quick-install mode for OOo 1.1.x. To install the base theme, run: "tclsh quickInstall.tcl"
(no need to update config.tcl)
* Script improvements
* Static windows theme had to be removed due to space constraints.

Hi

When I try to install (on Mandrake 10) I get the following error:

couldn't execute "convert": no such file or directory
while executing
"exec convert -size $len$x$cy xc:$bg $out1"
(file "./genbar.tcl" line 554)

Any idea what this could be?

Excellent work!

I've got one question for you: this might be a bit simple, but I'm new to linux. When I choose the "Aqua/22x22/" theme for OO 1.1.1, the menus look great but there is too much spacing between each menu selection title (i.e. the drop-down menu bar is a bit too long). Is there a place in the script to change this?

Thanks!

In OOo the menu icon size is same as the toolbar icon size, so the menus appear big.

Awesome work! I can finally look at OpenOffice without my eyes bleeding ;^)

But when I roll over an icon, its surrounding background is hi lighted in a blue-ish color, but the icon's background remains white. Can I somehow fix this?
Thanks!

This is because color masking is switched off, because the alpha blended icons are not supported yet.

kde.openoffice.org has a version of OOo in which inactive icons are masked. We'll have to wait for that.

My next child is indebted to you. Dooo---hude, this is like mega-cool. I edited config.tcl on my RH9 GNOME system, ran the script, launched OO, and went "SWEEEE--EET"! Too much! And the fact that I can keep on changing the icons??? Heck, I might even convert some people in my office to switch to OO now because of this.

Too bad the OO people don't have a clue when it comes to making things themeable with skins.

I always thought the icons in OpenOffice need a redesign.
With your tool I can change them very easy.
I hope a lot of designers will work on new icon-themes for this office-applications.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR GREAT WORK !

Each time I try to run quickInstall.tcl, it fails with this message:

OpenOffice config directory:
/home/rebus/OpenOffice.org1.1/user/config/soffice.cfg/
config directory not found, creating
mkdir: cannot create directory `/home/rebus/OpenOffice.org1.1/user/config/soffice.cfg': No such file or directory

It's true that this directory doesn't exist. My OpenOffice directory is called OpenOffice.org1.1.0. For some reason, it doesn't like adding the zero at the end. The directory is spelled out correctly in config.tcl. So, I don't know how to make it find the actual directory instead of the nonexistent one it's looking for.

After updating your config.tcl to he right path, run -> tclsh genbar.tcl
(not quickinstall).

Also, can you email me/post your ~/.sversionrc

Report

That did it! I opened .sversionrc in vi and there were several different versiond recorded there. I deleted all but the correct one and started over. Then it installed with no problem. I didn't see this issue in the README. Anyway, it looks great.

Must be some change I did in this version.
Could you please go to your OpenOffice1.x/user/ directory, and email me the output from: "ls -R"

Thanks.

for kol: Where is "win_soffice.cfg.zip"? or where can i download (please, URL).

econofed says: "Yes it works fine in Windows-thanks very much!" and the question is: HOW?

If is someoane who configured a theme for OpenOffice for Windows please archive your windows soffice.cfg directory and post somwhere (and post a link) or emailme to: raducoc@email.ro , or if is someone who know how to configure a theme for windows OpenOffice please post a reply.

If is someone who have Linux + OpenOffice, please archive and share your "OpenOffice.org1.1.0/user/config/soffice.cfg" directory.

I want "OpenOffice.org1.1 toolbar icon themes" to work under windows.

Theanks.

I have posted a package for creating static icon themes.

It already includes one static theme.
