Plymouth Ubuntu 10.10

Description:

This is my version of Plymouth to Ubuntu 10.10, I have done in the normal version, the version for computers DELL, ACER, HP, Compaq, System 76 and more brands soon.
It works in all resolutions since:
1024x600 => Netbook
1366 x 768 => Netbook
1024x768
1280x1024
1600x1200
1440x900
1680x1050

In larger resolutions do not know if it works my Monitor 22 "only comes up to 1680x1050,

How to Configure it:

Example: ACER Plymouth JMMING Version

Then extract the contents of the zip, to your home or Desktop folder, Then open a terminal and run this (firstly navigate to the folder you extracted it WHERE using a terminal, if you extracted it on your Desktop, That would be: cd ~ / Desktop):

sudo cp-R dell_plymouth_1010 / / lib / plymouth / themes /
sudo update-alternatives - install / lib / plymouth / themes / default.plymouth default.plymouth / lib/plymouth/themes/acer_plymouth_1010/acer_ply_jmming.plymouth 100
sudo update-alternatives - config default.plymouth # here, choose the number of the theme you want to use Then hit enter
sudo update-initramfs-u

Reboot and ready ... should be running the new theme.

I've seen that happen when used Plymouth that weigh more than 400 Kb, the simplest solution is to install the application:

v86d.deb

so:

sudo apt-get install v86d

then:

FrameBuffer = y echo | sudo tee / etc / initramfs-tools / conf.d / splash

and then update the entire Plymouth:

sudo update-grub2
sudo update-initramfs-u

So I worked on my card to my Intel GMA X3100

I installed the theme following the instructions, but after restart done, what I got instead of the ubuntu preloader (standart one) I get a complete black screen.

Is there any problem or I am missing something?

PS: Latest ubuntu here with all updates until now

é mas quando eu mudei plymouthpor outras versões que estão nos repositórios do Ubuntu tem ido bem. tela preta no início ... nenhuma foto ou qualquer coisa ...

Se você tem a resposta que seria bom para partilhar ... que diz respeito

O que acontece é que a implementação do Plymouth feita pela Canonical não está no seu melhor...

Se estás a utilizar drivers proprietários (nvidia ou ATI), é possivel que nao funcione, pelos menos a ATI não suporta KMS e a nvidia desconheço. Com Intel deveria funciona.

Sei que com os drivers da ATI e nvidia da Red Hat/Fedora funciona na perfeição (em Fedora e Red Hat).

Sim há forma de ultrapassar esse 'black screen', e isso está na wiki do Ubuntu que eu instalei um Ubuntu à uns tempos para um amigo e resolveu-se.

De qualquer forma, nao utilizo ubuntu e de cabeça nao sei exactamente, mas basta carregar uns quantos modulos no arranque do grub2, nomeadamente o vbe.

Ok andei a fazer algumas alterações e no entanto....
Parece que alterar o plymouth para o tema original funciona na perfeição, no entanto, se alterar para o tema pretendido obtenho o mesmo resultado do ecrã preto...

ok só agora é que existe uma informação que pode ser relevante para a solução do problema.
Esta é a informação quando escolho o tema a ser usado:
update-alternatives: a utilizar /lib/plymouth/themes/ubuntu_plymouth_1010/ubuntu_ply_jmming.plymouth como atalho para /lib/plymouth/themes/default.plymouth (default.plymouth) em modo manual.

É suposto isto acontecer?
