Great GDM once I got it working. Just go into the folder, remake the GdmGreeterTheme.desktop and save it exactly as; GdmGreeterTheme.desktop. Archive it and then open it up. If you need anything else, just give me a shout.

Hmm, ive done that and when i archive it and try to add it again it says that its not a valid tar.gz or tar archive.....

sorry i havent responded lately. Yes your fix worked. for some reason it only worked when i copy/pasted the name and not manually typed? Thx again though for the help.

GDM Themes

For applying GDM themes, there is this tool:

Note Ubuntu uses LightDM, so you would need to switch to GDM first to use GDM themes:
