Description:

This iconset won't ever have a massive modification.
All the work I am doing on it right now is just trying to push it to perfection, making small changes release after release [you can see what's happening in the changelog below], so please feel free to report any bug you experience, but first of all ensure you've read the instructions file

Now.. the description can begin...

At first I collaborated with crhispy, releasing different coloured versions of his worderful port "Oxygen-Refit".
Now I decided to create a fork of his porting, integrating some icons I caught around the web, and some others I edited/created by myself.

Please feel free to report and bug within the comments.

A great big thank for you all.

UPDATE

Archlinux users can install this iconset from the AUR repository, just typing:

yaourt -S hydroxygen-iconset

Hydroxygen are also have been included within the GNU/Linux Paldo official repos.
Many thanks to kim88.

The Computer icon was better in the previous version
Regardin some applications like Firefox, Thunderbird and Skipe i think the original icon is better
The aMule icon should be changed, it seems to be out of focus
In general great job, this is absolutely my favorite iconset.

The new Skype icon is great! And also the others new added. I think I have no more suggestions... perfect!

I agree. The Firefox icon doesn't fit in with the blue-grey theme of the folders on the desktop. And why is it a bird now?

Report

I second this. The previous icon was much more professional. This one is really embarrassing to have when there are people around. Like relatives or friends. Seriously, I think it should be changed back.

I changed the computer icon to match my actual desktop.
If you prefer the previous one, you can find it within the 1.03 tarball, into the "devices" folder.
About aMule: you're right. I'm still looking for a good icon, I'll replace it as soon as I can.
About Firefox, Thunderbird and Skype... I like them this way til now :)

Thanks for your feedback!

I replaced the previous amule icon with the one you suggested.
You can see the result here: http://img382.imageshack.us/img382/5382/amuleki8.png
The left one is your suggested icon, the right one is the actual hydroxygen icon.

As I thought, it still seems to be out of focus.
Don't you think?

Thanks for your help.
I don't think this icon shouldn't get blurred like the actual one.
But I'll always try when I can, then I'll make you know ;)

beautiful theme
but friend you don't remove the archive "icon-theme.cache" it is not necessary is only cache and size of file is 113mb for this motive your theme is too big

if your theme compacted with .tar.gz (removing this cache file) the size is 28mb

thanks

I looked within my iconset, but I didn't find that icon-theme.cache.
The newest version of hydroxygen is only 27MB, so I exlude it could contain a 100MB+ cache file.
Within the previous ones [1.0.3 and previous] I didn't find the file you are talking about.

I guess you are wrong, my friend :)
To prove you're right, download my iconset and tell me where the cache file is.

You find it in .icons/YourIconSet/...
If you install a Iconset (Theme) your system creates a cache-file ;) Nothing important. Continuing working :D

This is Nautilus work.
And it does it within every iconset, not only into mine.
And, of course, I didn't include the cache file into the downloadable tarball ;)

Hi. I hate Gnome-Look for three reasons. 1. the voting 2. the present of your concurrence above and down from your artwork 3. any control of illegal Stuffs and Licence violations --- Beginning with point 3: You are sure that you can give your Set the LGPL-Licence? Or it's more GPL, LGPL, GNU, CC, PC etc ? You know all Icons you are sharing must have the same Licence like the origin authors Licence. Gnome-Look don't controls the corruption of law and let this illegal actions go. So we come to Point 2: Peoples who wants use Icons normally they don't imports the Licence etc. They want the best and better. So what happens? Developers takes Collections-Sets selecting form all the best for be better again. Don't importing about the Licences and nothing. I reeded in ChearlooksOSX-Icons: "But I got the Icons in Gnome-Look" (Point 3). Hey the trend is copying (Boulevard, florilege, ChearlooksOSX etc.) If you say something about Licence violations they ignoring and continuing their Colletorswork and not Artwork. I am sad that Gnome-Look let thinks like this happens. I am painting a lot... Icon for Icon. Not one cent I got for my wasted time. So I am very sensible and coming sad seeing what happens at moment. It's a very sad Trend and the most peoples don't imports nothing. They want only the best and free. Point 1: Voting is a good idea for searching etc. But I think that not always is fair game. You makes a update and the percent coming down. But you know it's better than before... If you download a Artwork with many percents you are wondering why if you see the stuff in action it have so many percents! So I hope you understand why I am sad and why I am hating Gnome-Look. Okay let's see what you will say about your Collectorswork and the Licence-problem?

I took the most of the icons within this iconset from the Oxygen-Refit pack by nanolx.org.
He included a file within the icon pack, which refers to the LGPL3.
Specifically, this part seems important:

- If you modify a copy of the Library [...] then you may convey a copy of the modified version:

1- under this License [release your modified copy with the same license the original author released his work, LGP3]

2- under the GNU GPL, with none of the additional permissions of this License applicable to that copy

I am only doing what most people here are doing: I release my "collector-work" with the same license the others' works are released with.
Or, maybe better, I release Hydroxygen with the same license nanolx releases his Oxygen-Refit.

I know that drawing by yourself every iconset, icon per icon, is a hard work.
I also do this in a minor part. The folders icons, the desktop icon and some other included within the Hydroxygen pack are 100% my own work.
I know, it's not ALL the complete package, but hey... everyone's collecting, why can't I?

If you find this procedure something to be sad or if you have any question about this kind of general attitude, you'd better ask to the gnome-look admin.
If you'd try to ask everyone who collects intead of creating by himself, you'd only fill you outbox mail and you won't be happier.

I know, art is not copying, but making better copies. This is what I think [but it's not what you also have to think!]
If you don't think so, please refer to gnome-look admins.

There are existing three possible Icon-Sets. 1. (Own) Artwork-Sets 2. Mixed Artwork-Sets 3. Collectors-Sets. Point 1 is the hardest way and not up to date. The Trend is changing up to 2 and 3 ;) Would I know it before, I never had started my Artwork. But I begin it without knowing nothing about this situations, only for fun and because I like paint and drawing. Now I want use it like a reference for a possible future Job in a Designer Role. But it's okay. The work is done and I will continuing what I had started without collect other Artworks. Hey and yes your work is one of completes collectors works at moment ;) What gnomeingo wrote about svg and scaling complex icons makes sense. Good scaling is a kind of artwork too ... you know :)

You wrote:

"I begin it without knowing nothing about this situations, only for fun and because I like paint and drawing. Now I want use it like a reference for a possible future Job in a Designer Role."

Well... you can.
I cannot.
This seems to be a clear difference. You made your own work. I just made a collection [and a 3% of my own work, "free of charge"].

"What gnomeingo wrote about svg and scaling complex icons makes sense. Good scaling is a kind of artwork too ... you know"

Oh yes, I perfectly know.
But let me explain why I am a collector and not an artist like you...

I began trying to create a modification of an iconset [Oxygen-Refit, you know], just to use it for myself, not sharing with the web.
I placed some screenshots of my desktop within some forums, and everyone started asking where did I find that iconset.
Then I asked nanolx.org if I'd ever could release his Oxygen-Refit iconset with my own modifications [you'd have seen.. the Oxygen in different colours], and he agreed.
Now Hydroxygen is the same thing: Oxygen-Refit with some different icons.
Some of them are the ones I created, and some other are icons I've found around the web.

I don't think I'd ever could be blamed for my iconsets.
I know, drawing a complete iconset is very harder than collecting it.
But maybe you can purpose to the gnome-look admins to separate in two different categories the submissions... by one side the original artwork, and by the other side the collectors' ones.

you worte: "I don't think I'd ever could be blamed for my iconsets." It wasn't my intention. I am involved in these theme and I am more sensible for this. How everybody will do. He starts asking and thinking ;) But don't be worry. You are doing a good and correct job.

you worte: "But maybe you can purpose to the gnome-look admins to separate in two different categories the submissions... by one side the original artwork, and by the other side the collectors' ones."
I like this idea! How come to contact with Gnome-Look-Admins :D I think it's more fair play.

you wrote: "Oh yes, I perfectly know." (scaling) Oh yes I am too. I had to learn, but know I got it ;) You scales good, but complex Icons are, with the best scaling methods, already a (gnomeingo) pixelrush. I give you a Tip: Delete some stuffs in the high format and scale them down ;)
Another Tip: Try to make your folders better. Hey it's only a good meaning Tip. I had ugly folders and I haved to change them three times ;)

I have seen many of your Royal Icons are the same I have just seen in Oxygen-Refit.

I try to make a list:

- amsn
- amule
- anjuta*
- arson
- audacious
- audacity
- avidemux
- baobab
- bittorrent*
- bitwash*
- blender
- bluetooth
- bmp
- brasero
- briquolo
- bug-buddy
- burn
- camorama
- cinelerra
- devede
- disk manager

and many many others...

*Icons marked with * are desaturated from colour to grey.

Now there's one final question: didn't you were drawing your iconset icon per icon?
You are not a collector, isn't it?

Hey and you found them in Apps-Extra. Yes I know. They are the only ones and are placeholders. It already a Preview and in the 1.0 Release they will be converted in own-made Icons ;) You know, I don't use many programs there are in use. So the list is one part of the App-Icons I wanted have in my ehem 1.0 Release. So please don't use this like a argument against me. The separation from Icons-Artwork and Icons-Collectors I think is a very good idea.

These look amazing! I personally never liked the Oxygen-Refit icons (I thought they were ugly). These look very clean and usable. Please continue development! One thing though: could you please not use those ugly blue blender icons. They look really bad.

An Icon Theme should have a valid .theme file among its files and aim to be complete for desktop use under Gnome or KDE Plasma.

If it contains only a single icon or a small set of icons, please use the Icon Sub-Sets or Single Icon/Logo categories instead.
