Description:

Gnome-Cupertino and Gnome-Cupertino-Mint for Gnome 3.6.x

The upgrade to 2.x (and name change) is a bit drastic, and it is because I had to practically the theme from scratch and make a decision to keep only one of the previous two L and SL. Another reason for name change is because the theme does not use the adwaita-engine over several versions.

Version for unity due to global-menu

* IMPORTANT *
- GTK3 theme: unico-engine is no longer necessary for the theme
- GTK2 theme: uses gtk2-engines-murrine and gtk2-engines-pixbuf
- Ubuntu 12.10 comes by default with gnome 3.6 and nautilus-3.4 (though you can upgrade to nautilus-3.6), but if you have nautilus-3.4, you must set the theme for nautilus-3.4, as explained in the readme.txt

- Inside the theme folder there is a readme.txt file with some really simple instructions (styles for nautilus, 4 tab styles, glassy buttons, Unity top panel white mac style, some fix)

Hope you like it for everyday use.

I recommend this fantastic icon themes:

A bit strange really is, you may have a problem with the installation of unico-engine?

which distro you use?

I'm using arch linux. I have the unico engine installed but isn't that for GTK2 apps? Any ways you can clearly see the difference on nautilus (gtk3). Take a look here:

P.S. Thanks for the quick response!

Hey. I'm really fond of the theme. Thank you. But one think i really love is dark panels and grey mac-like themes together. I can see in the gtk.css that it somehow should be possible to make the panel grey. I'm using the Unity L version of the theme btw.
Can you explain how i make it dark?

In the next update will include it, the dark panel is included in my other theme GrayDay
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/GrayDay?content=149310

For now what you can do is download GrayDay and copy the file
../GrayDay/gtk-3.0/unity-darkest.css in ../Adwaita Cupertino L Unity/gtk-3.0/

then edit (gedit) the file ../Adwaita Cupertino L Unity/gtk-3.0/gtk.css and find (about line 218)
@import url("unity.css");
and replace with
@import url("unity-darkest.css");

good luck :)

will the next version be compatible with gtk 3.5.x? it has some small window/unity panel color issues, and some widgets are drawn wrong (square instead of round for example)

I do not know, I think it depends on how the changes affect the theme, 2 months ago that I have gnome 3.4, now is a bit early to think about gnome 3.5.

After my bad experience with v3.2 to v3.4 update I decided not to work more with beta versions, sorry I have not enough time

Sorry the delay in responding, I've been traveling and I could not

It's something I've tried but have not found a way to do it, Metacity manages mouse-hover in one button simultaneously

Hi again,
when I start thunderbird via terminal I get following message
/home/user/.themes/Adwaita Cupertino L Unity/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:703: error: unexpected string constant "checkradio", expected keyword - e.g. `application'

Report

If you edit gtkrc with gedit, in gedit select options 'show line numbers', and check the line 703, is the line where the error is occurring.

Mhh, I can not remember that I edited this file. I thought that I just made some changes in GTK3. But you are right, checkradio > radiobutton was the solution.
Thanks again for you qick reply!

I have the feeling that you have edited the gtkrc file and made a small syntax error.

Thanks for the work on both Gtk3 and Gtk2. Of course the gtk 3 is far betther, still, it's nice to have integration with "old" app.

Very nice theme. I'm just curious that why the name Adwaita cupertino? It uses Unico engine. Right?

Report

C

The first version was made with the adwaita-engine, was a later version when adapted to unico-engine.

But yes, I should rethink rename it, on the other hand ;),the change I made from your gnome-shell theme is not here, is in GrayDay,

can you make the theme a little darker? The current is a little to bright to stare at, especially when using Libreoffice.

that color is customizable in the menu of LibreOffice
Tools-> Options-> Appearance
The first color customizable is "Document background", by default is "Automatic", there you can select the color you want.

However, if you prefer darker tones, I would recommend my other two themes
GrayDay, it's a little darker
http://gnome-look.org/content/show.php/GrayDay?content=149310

MediterraneanNight, has three levels of brightness, MediterranenanLight-Night-Dark, all are darker than Adw. Cup.

thank you a lot man for the themes and the Libre settings! You have saved me hours, I mean HOURS, of finding switching between GTK3 themes. Never knew of your other two themes until I tried Grayday as one of your earlier suggestions for someone's else and now having it as my main GTK3. Deviantart doesn't have any 3.4-compatible themes that are as decent to look at as yours. But I think you shouldn't post any of your themes on Deviantart man, it has been a mess out there.

Hi,
really nice work you did, best OSX Theme so far! I use the Unity L theme from you with the "unity-transparent.css" option for the unity panel. It looks really nice as long a no window is maximized or you hoover over the panel. Then the panel turn grey an it does not look so good anymore
http://u76.img-up.net/?up=theme-probd3d5.png

Is there a way to chance this?

You can solve this by tuning "panel opacity" to 0,9900 in compiz (under unity plugin > experimental). The panel is only slightly less transparent. Good luck.

We have already talked about this before, just telling her that since version 3.4 of Gnome, the transparent panel does not work, you can use unity-white.css and create transparency from ubuntu-tweak-tool. sorry

Frankly, this latest update of unity (ubuntu 12.04), we have cut that possibility we so much liked to a few, including me.

If one day I get it working again, will activate by default in the next update.
