LUX GTK2 Legacy
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work): Add the source-code for this project on opencode.net
GTK2 part of LUX Desktop Project.
After 1 year testing and experimenting LUX is finished now. Any dark theme bug I know of is solved in this version.
Required gtk-theme-engine: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Aurora+Gtk+Engine%28Ubuntu+PPA%29?content=108831
LUX Metacity theme is made to match best.
Suggested icon theme: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Simple?content=99470
Suggested pointer theme: http://www.gnome-look.org/content/show.php/Neutral%2B%2B?content=108142
As the theme based on Aurora engine I have taken into account its speed. It is fast - here is the result:
-
GtkPerf 0.40 - Starting testing: Sat Jul 25 12:56:07 2009
GtkEntry - time: 0.06
GtkComboBox - time: 1.98
GtkComboBoxEntry - time: 1.74
GtkSpinButton - time: 0.41
GtkProgressBar - time: 0.20
GtkToggleButton - time: 0.43
GtkCheckButton - time: 0.34
GtkRadioButton - time: 0.66
GtkTextView - Add text - time: 0.77
GtkTextView - Scroll - time: 0.46
GtkDrawingArea - Lines - time: 0.53
GtkDrawingArea - Circles - time: 0.97
GtkDrawingArea - Text - time: 0.82
GtkDrawingArea - Pixbufs - time: 0.54
---
Total time: 9.89
(In comparition with Ubuntu Human theme: Total time: 8.53)
The latest Firefox is entirely compatible with the theme without any further action. Simple install from here: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/personal.html

Goes well with the classic GT3 wallpaper and GT3-light mouse theme:

The flat scrollbars remind me of the Amiga hehe
Sticking with the gnome-colors icons (wise/green) for now because they look great at small sizes
