Description:

Not the most pretty desktop but it offers a simple way to organise files and folders.

This is my first entry, so sorry if its kinda lame.

Fairly good idea in theory, but it doesn't really work for me.

I used to be a windows user and always had alot of icons cluttering my desktop. One thing i really love about KDE is that you can have multiple kicker bars to put as many programs or files you want on them. For me, a desktop is more a peice of art than just a desktop, so i'd rather not have a bunch of icons cluttering it up.

That's just my opinion.

I agree, however I do still use some icons on my desktop for working on projects. My desktop acts as kind of a place holder or "table top" for projects. I also use the menu systems and kicker built into kde.

This background also looks much better when using "Blending" so its not so dull.

I've had similar thoughts on desktop organization - On some of my desktop pictures, I have put multiple lightly tinted blocks (using krita or inkscape). It helps when I get very busy and don't have time to organize my projects into folders.

Yeah, I use the redish space for temporary files. And the black for stuff that Stays on my desktop.

I might come out a few others, I just have to spend a little more time on them.
