to get Grey desktop scheme In screenshot
use
1) Color scheme --> pale grey comes with kde-3.2 I dont know abt other versions
2) this wallpaper
3) icons with default set to greyscale
icons (Advanced-> default-> Greyscale) leave other settings default ....
So that icons get colorful when cursor moves over it
4) Interface enhancer like baghira
