Ok, I guess that proves that it does not exist (well, through the same bastard pseudo science used before where logical fallacies pop up like mushrooms).

QED. There's nothing more to see here, let's pack and go home :)

Or is it Mepiss ?

First of all. Let me make it perfectly clear to you...
God does not excist. He is a fictional character in a book. Just like Harry Potter.

You call me a fanatic, because I say I can't respect christians.

Your silly reason, for making this claim is that I haven't met all 10.000 christians, or whatever the number is.

So, let me ask you this ;
Do you respect rapists and murderers or are you a fanatic as well ?

To respect someone, you have to acknowledge his beliefs and what he stands for.

And since, religious beliefs are so far away from my own. I can safely say, that I will never respect a christian.

I can say that without being fanatic. Just as I can say, I could never respect a rapist.

So... (I've always wanted to ask an atheist this)

You believe that we came from monkeys... and where exactly did these monkeys come from???

Monkeys come from Africa :-)

Report

...And where did Africa come from? Answering this question with insults instead of actually answering the question only proves that your theory is flawed.

SO YOU MEAN THESE ATHEISTS DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE THEIR MONKEYS CAME FROM???

so... what? These monkeys just came out of nowhere? they just "appeared"??

I don't think anyone is saying that life just appeared. We're not sure exactly how life started on earth. We're also not sure where all of the matter in the universe came from. However, just because we don't know doesn't mean we're justified in making up a god to answer that question. God is a non-answer with regard to creation as his existence requires explanation (ie what created god?). If you're going to posit a god that always existed and created everything, wouldn't it be even more concise to just posit that the universe and everything in it already existed and go from there?

Absolutely! I was raised Methodist by my very devout Christian father, but around my late teens I slowly started researching things more for myself and came to the conclusion of Atheism. One of the biggest things that turned me to Atheism was the Bible. If you read the whole thing, not just what they talk to you about in church, the book is clearly full of holes, contradictions and outright inhumane behavior.

I am in no way hard nosed that there is no god. I don't know if there is or isn't and I'm more than capable of becoming convinced. Right now, I don't see sufficient evidence and until that time, my default position is disbelief.

We can agree to disagree, but I would encourage you to look into this stuff for yourself. Figure out, if you don't already know, why you believe what you believe and constantly challenge your understanding of your beliefs. If you have any questions with regards to Atheism, I'd be more than happy to discuss with you.

I guess there is no way we're going to convince each other, but did you once believe in god?

I'm begining to doubt that we're even the same species. I truly hope we're not.

Again, get your facts straight, stop posting conspiracy theory, unfundamented crap (scientific facts? give me a break), it is not helping your cause (as if anything would).

Unless you're a prank I think you have a lot to read (I mean real books) before we can discuss anything and before any of your comments is anywhere near worthy of reply.

So you have no reply to my question?

I didn't see this part of the thread so I'll repost by comment here...

Evolution doesn't say we "came from monkeys". Evolution says we share a common ancestor. If you're simply asking where did monkeys come from, they came from their ancestors. If you're asking where did life come from, that's not a question answered by evolution. Evolution is simply an explanation of the diversity of life.

The origin of life is covered by a topic called abiogensis. Scientists aren't currently sure how life began on earth but they do know that it is possible for life to come from non-life as they have been able to produce the building blocks of life, amino acids, from non-life in a controlled environment.

Science and technology cannot explain the creation of the universe, therefore, you cannot disprove a god.

And you cannot disprove he is a giant bunny addicted to coca-cola. You cannot disprove he is the bigger son of a bitch ever. You cannot disprove he is just an alien. You cannot disprove anything cause there is nothing to disprove.

Yes, science can disprove that. Quote:Science can not disprove that there's a Santa,
Yes, you can prove that, there are no gifts that come magically from "santa" and I hate it when people call him "Santa" because that is french for "Saint", and (of course) Clause means Nick
Quote:Superman,
There is no such city that is where he comes from, and the whole world knew about him in the story.
Quote:Spiderman,
Spiderman was also supposed to be known all around the world.
Quote:Lock ness monster or the jolly green giant...
I don't really know about these ones, but I'm sure they can be proven wrong.

Being able to disprove the existence of god is contingent on your particular definition of god.

Additionally, there is no demonstroble evidence for the existence of a god so there is no reason to believe even if you can't disprove his existence. There is as much evidence for a god as there is unicorns or fairies. If you were to believe in anything that cannot be directly disproven, you would end up believing all kinds of nonsense. The default position is disbelief until such time as sufficient evidence can be presented to inspire belief. The burden of proof is on believers to prove the existence of god.

So. do you believe in them as well ?

I have an answer for you : we don't know where we come from at the all "beginning". And you don't know neither.

The difference between smart people and believers, is that smart people admit they don't know, and want to understand and to learn, that's why science exists.

Believers don't want to know, they just say "that's god". They don't even want to know the truth, they just want to stay as stupid as they are, because it's so much more easy to believe that you know everything, it's so easy to say "it's god" when you don't know.

Religion is the worst enemy of science, of truth, of freedom, of intelligence. Religion is for stupid people who want to stay stupid.

Ok, you wouldn't buy a book, it is too expensive for a primary school boy.

But are you too fucking dumb to read on human evolution (copy + paste or you might forget) on wikipedia? What is you problem? It it overwhelming? Too complex? Scary? Mind blowing? Saddening? Do you have any specific doubts? Too many expensive words? Not enough synapses to handle it? Is your screen contrast making it hard for you to read? Your eyes hurt? What?

Advise: do an honest try at understanding what you're trying to oppose. Else you may end up dwelling in basic misunderstandings (like that "theory" thingy that I don't think you quite well groked yet).

I must conclude that you're either lazy or retarded. Either way I've interfaced more than enough already.

Not 42 +1

But if you keep writing +1 emough times you will eventually get to 54.

I promised myself that I wouldn't get involved, but seeing some of the comments on this thread, I feel compelled to speak out.

Sir, evolution is NOT "just a theory" you obviously have no concept of what a theory is. Evolution is on the same playing field as gravitational THEORY and atomic THEORY. Are you suggesting that gravity and atoms do not exist?
