Description:

I cant and am not taking any credit for any of this but the Windows symbol part. I got the background from the KDEaqua wallpaper and the Linux Quake guy from the Linux Quake wallpaper. I went to Microsoft.com to get the xp symbol and I copy pasted the bollet hole from a fake car decall picture. All I did is throw them all together with GIMP. I am sorry if anyone is mad about me using your wallpapers, but I could never do it myself. Thanx.

"Oh no! A jesty wallpaper showing tux with a rocket launcher! The government will surely make Linux illegal now!"

ROFL, *sigh* the sarcastic wit of a true technology geek. Take a chill pill and junk, its all in good humour. Its not like NE1 made a pic of Bill "Ass-Clown" Gates's head squered on a stake or anything *note to self: gates head on stake good idea for pic*. :P

Its a friggin pridefull joke for god sake. Get a grip.

Oh no! A jesty wallpaper showing tux with a rocket launcher! The government will surely make Linux illegal now!

On a side note: Linux is based more in Europe and the eastern world than in America, so dont generalize when youre talking about legislation. You mean AMERICAN legislation, the rest of us dont have any stupid laws like that :)

I'm having some trouble rationalizing this. Linux is "based" outside of the US? What validates that statement?

The same as for "Linux Rocks" wallpaper posted today as well: I don't like this agressive/negative anti-microsoft wallpapers. By doing this, us Linux-people pass from the right side to the wrong one. If we agree on the fact that Microsoft monopolistic "tendencies" are no good for computer developement and open source, then why not writing a good informative-scientific web site about Linux, and how better is than Microsoft OS, rather than wasting time in such wallpapers?

This is a light hearted joke. Relax and have a good laugh. Too many Linux users I feel take these M$ jokes or M$ style themes way to seriously. I'm still a newbie, but love Linux and the open source community. I'm afraid that some of these rantings may scare newcomers away. Remember, life is too short to have a coronary over a wallpaper or a theme.

...but our window of opportunity is even shorter. It's important to not do asinine things that detract the credibility of OSS.

Legislature geared to destroy open source is constantly in the works thanks to MS, MPAA, etc. lobbiests. Microsoft are making endless headways to lock businesses (by recent Windows EULA, it's illegal to replace Windows on computers it is installed on). Proprietary technologies that close off user choice are popping up left and right.

Why are these things acceptable to the mainstream users, corporations, and the government? Because Microsoft and other large entities appear to have more credibility than open source entities. Why do they appear to have more credibility? Becuase they are not making immature gestures of childish lunacy as demonstrated with wall papers like this.

Hi,
where can I find more details about this (scary) issue of being illegal to uninstall pre-installed windows? Can you point me out a web site, or so? Thanx.

It's Called Linux pride. I dont like Microsoft at all because of there past history of being bullies and trying to put everyone out of buisness and make everyone use Windows. I love Linux and I think these kind of Wallpapers are fun make and see. People are just showing that they would rather use Linux than Windows and I think thats good. If you use Linux than dont get mad at these wallpapers because they are supporting the same OS you use.

And I find them immature and poorly done.

I make a living supporting Windows, I use Linux on my home machine.

This kind of childish bull___ is why Linux is not ready to step up to the plate.

I agree 100% that Microsoft are not only very unethical, they are outright criminal. With that in mind, is the proper response to be violent or produce images of violence against them? They are guilty of criminal acts, but their supporters can always turn around and say "these guys always want to shoot at us and blow us up." That's not exactly the image we want open source to have.

When you use violence or images of it to convince people to adopt your point of view, you're doing the same thing Microsoft are doing. You're being oppressive.

Microsoft says, "we don't like open source, so we'll use anti-competitive practices to get rid of it." Images like yours say, "we don't like Microsoft, so we'll use bombs and fire to get rid of it." You play on their rules. It's all the same.

On a side note, there's already volumes of violence-related anti-Microsoft propaganda that's actually witty, original, and quite funny. I'm sorry to say that yours honestly does not have any of these qualities. A stolen graphic from another, rather funny image, collaged with a bullet hole ridden Windows logo just doesn't do it. If at the very least, violent anti-MS imagery should be funny so its not taken too seriously. When people see that genre of graphics and it's dull, open source advocates look like hate-filled fools.

I don't like micro$oft for the same reasons, but I still think there are better ways to support Linux. Question of taste, probably.
