The millions killed by the US in Vietnam....it takes two sides to fight, you cant blaim US for all the victims.

The iraqi people....where they better of with Saddam ?? 300.000 in massgraves, how much longer should that have gone on ?? USA only wants oil, will propably be your next claim...how much oil is there in afghanistan ?? US has freedom of speech and religion. Be saying that the US isnt better than the sovjet union was is simply displaying your own ignorance.

If we're going to discuss this issue, let's do it in a civilized manner, showing respect for all members of our great community. No need to be personally insulting...

While I don't agree with the author's message, ranting doesn't solve problems any more than revolutions do.

Oh, an one more thing, by posting a wallpaper that hypothesizes on the cold war "going the other way," you're implying that you do, in fact, support the communist government in Moscow, which you (in several posts) vehemently deny. If you want to change the world, don't use a name that has been sullied.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply.

I was just interested, how do you yourself imagine the conversion of the US into a heaven of the proletariat? And what exactly will this heaven look like? Just how do you propose to "do communism right" as opposed to "doing communsm wrong" like Lenin, Stalin and the like?

By the way, when was the last time the US government persecuted a US citizen solely for political motivation? And how many cases have there been in the last, oh, sixty years? By saying that the US is "not much better" you're implying that the level of opression here is similar to that in the USSR, but show me the man who was arrested for protesting against the war in a peaceful manner. Any problems you may see with the regime have nothing to do with the government but instead with the market (rather stupidly) realigning itself with the will of an uneducated and impulsive mass. There is nothing you can't fix here through educational means. If the problem with communism is human nature, we must work to change it so everyone acts according to the ideals that you profess, instead of having to be forced to do so. Only through extensive education of the public can we even hope to improve the world situation.

Ok, first of all, if you've read the capital, you'll know that one of the basic qualities of the freeing of the working class is that it is their own work and that it is supposed to stop alienation from the products one creates. That has nothing to do with letting a state or a party take over the role of the working class and take control of the means of production. Whether I am controlled by a capitalist in New York or a Bureaucrat in Mopscow does not make a whole lot of difference in terms of alienation.
In terms of oppression, as I tried to say before, you can not just count Americans and how they are treated by the US (although also many American have been persecuted over times). Instead, you have to look at ALL people that are in contact with the US state together.; it is not better for the US government to oppress someone who doesn't hold an American passport than to oppress a US citizen.
In matters of education: yes, I agree, it should be a revolution by the great majority (that could profit from a change of system) against a small minority of capitalists. And that is what one needs eductaion for. One of the means of doing that is to post wallpapers here and then start discussions with that. Another way is to send lots of communists to the US and sit around the libraries in all the small towns to discuss with the local high school students.

In the words of George W. Bush: "Free speech goes both ways."

Free speech means that you have the right to proclaim your views on an equal basis as anyone who has a view at the polar opposite of yours. Whether you agree with it or not, the poster has a right to express their viewpoint.

The same standard should be applied to the Ku Klux Klan, Rev. Al Sharpton, Muslims, Christians, Jews, etc.

If you enjoy your freedom of speech, then let everyone else excercise theirs.

in fact, i really AM a communist! so what? i'm not forcing YOU to be a communist and neither the wallpaper does. but IF it does, it is even better than i thought... :-)

remember also, there is a lot of "christian" stuff here on kde-look.org. i am an atheist but i simply don't care about the christian wallpapers. however, i could be whining like you: "stop! this is religion! no religion here!"

everything is political (art as well), there is no place on earth where you won't be bothered by politics.

Only a post to answer to natas12 and ruel24.
Please excuse me if i use that tone: here in Italy nowadays it's a joke to say "you're a communist", starting from TV...
I don't want to limit the other freedom of speech, but i only want to say that politic is strange, and so often times it is the starting point of disappoint. So: PEACE AND LOVE.
^_^
And moreover: make sex, no war! ^_^ ^_^ ^_^
