This is a slide I made of a Drosophila larva that has been stained with fluorescent phalloidin, a mushroom-derived compound that selectively stains the protein actin. Actin is found in muscles. What you see is striated muscle tissue. The tiny dark bands are called sarcomeres.

DONATIONS: I take these photos for my wallpapers in my spare time. I don't make much money in my day job, and any donations are appreciated. If I got enough, perhaps I could get a better camera to make wallpaper with! Whether you donate or not, please enjoy this wallpaper!
