Description:

The text says: "kaffeine keeps me awake"
but it was rather Pymol that kept me awake making the caffeine molecule look nice...

Indeed, looks very nice. But as a concerned chemist: it would be nice if the compound did not just look nice but was identifable as well? For example, what happened to double bonds, and the oxygens?? What about just adding the InChI somewhere on the page, e.g. down the bottom? That would make me feel a lot more comfortable.

The InChI is: InChI=1/C8H10N4O2/c1-10-4-9-6-5(10)7(13)12(3)8(14)11(6)2/h4H,1-3H3
See PubChem: http://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/summary/summary.cgi?cid=2519

I will upload the InChI version to this site any moment now.

Hey Egonw, i understand what you say about double bonds and oxygens, i could have included them... but it doesnt mean to be hyper-realistic (for that purpose spheres models are more appropiate), atoms and bonds aint brown and orange anyway... its just a model!
good idea the inChl code in the bottom!
What about modelling some other molecules? Adrenaline could be nice too, what do you think?

I agree about the estetic decisions. A shade for the oxygens might have been possible, but I like it anyway. BTW, if we think about the darker atoms being the nitrogens, then you misplaced one :)

Yes, I like the idea of other molecular wallpapers too, of open source hacking molecules. I'm not much of a graphics guy though, but they would fit nicely into other chemistry-on-the-desktop initiatives.
