Interesting thought, I was a big Opensuse fan until kubuntu/debian dependency management proved to be better for testing.

Hm. Now it's kicker 3.5.7, but I'm not able to change the kicker font color (was a new feature in 3.5.7). "Use custom colors" simply doesn't work.
To have custom colors I had to copy all files named "libtaskbar*" and "taskbar*" from the original kicker.deb to "/usr/lib" and "/usr/lib/kde3".

I've uploaded the files. Maybe you could use them for your package:

Could you post the source code or make a new package with KDE 3.5.7 and Kicker 3.5.7?

Hmm..if I knew where it was stored I'd gladly pass it on. I created it from Kore but I see no export feature.

OK I figured out how to install it using the --force all install stuff. But then kicker doesn't load. No biggie cause I reinstalled kicker but I'd love to see this package really work :)

Hi:
I found this other package that did worked for me on feisty, if someone cares:

i tried to remove kicker but it removed also these: "kmplayer-konq-plugins kubuntu-desktop kubuntu-konqueror-shortcuts konq-plugins konqueror kmplayer-konq-plugins kde-systemsettings kcontrol kicker"

So After the "kickoffqt_1.0-1_i386.deb" installation i can't reinstall the kicker pack!

You have to remove this package first:
sudo apt-get remove kickoffqt
(or do it easier via adept_manager)

Then reinstall the kicker:
sudo apt-get --reinstall install kicker

If you have alredy removed some packages, try reinstaklling kubuntu-desktop

May I ask where you found the source code? I was looking all over, and the only reference I found, was to a branch of KDEBASE in KDE's SVN. I tried downloading it, but it seemed to contain the whole of KDEBASE.

Look on the very button of the page

But isn't that a whole different KDEBASE? How do you compile just Kickoff?
The reason I can't use your package, is that I'm on amd64.

Ok, now it just fails miserably with the following:
"../ui/k_new_mnu.h:41:23: error: kmenubase.h: No such file or directory"
How did you get around this? I can't find kmenubase.h anywhere.

I get the same error: broken pipe
when I try to install it...

i've already done the reinstall kicker command...
