Description:

This is based on my sliding osnews theme, but with a truckload more functionality.

- Everything is now done in the python files.

- You can swap between different sites using a popupmenu.

- You can add new sites using an Xdialog box.

- You can remove sites using an Xdialog box.

It should "work out of the box"TM, no configuration required (provided that you extract and use the "osnews" directory intact). If you don't use galeon, search through the osnews.py file, and replace "galeon --new-tab '%s'" with your favourite browser. However, leave the '%s' bit as is, as this is a pointer to the URL to the news item that will be opened in the browser. So if you are using konqueror, replace "galeon --new-tab '%s'" with "konqueror '%s'". Leave everything else on that line as is.

For those that don't know, Xdialog is a program for generating dialog boxes. It comes on the MDK9.1 cd's, and I would have thought would be included in most distributions. Otherwise it can be downloaded from http://www.chez.com/godefroy/.

0.8

This is basically a code cleanup, using the new attachClickArea() function. This means that the cursor changes to a hand when over a clickable portion of the theme. The visual feedback on clicking a headline now works properly. Also fixes a problem that cropped up with using superkaramba >=0.27, where the handles flipped in and out madly when moving the mouse over the theme. Otherwise, there are no new "features". Requires superkaramba 0.28.

0.7.1

- Tooltip for heading now updates after changing feed (sorry, it was broken in 0.7)

0.7

- Tidied up some of the code.

- Added feedback when a new feed is loading.

0.6.1

- Change to description. No change to anything functional, so no need to redownload if you already have 0.6!

0.6

- Added tooltips for buttons.

- Also, tooltip showing the site description when you mouseover the heading.

- Also fixed a bug in the script to remove sites from the popupmenu, which caused the entire sites file content to be deleted if the label used was identical to a string within the site's url - not a great outcome.

Hi,
I tried to install this theme but I encoutered this output (sometimes even with other themes):

Major opcode: 2
Minor opcode: 0
Resource id: 0x2600058
X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3
Major opcode: 20
Minor opcode: 0
Resource id: 0x2600058
X Error: BadWindow (invalid Window parameter) 3
...
(for many times)
...
/usr/bin/Xdialog

then I don't see the news window but I think to see part of the desktop that is the difference between the rectangle that must contain the window and the window itself.

I use Gentoo with Qt 3.3.0, KDE 3.2.0, superkaramba 0.33, Python 2.3.3 and GCC 3.3.2

Thank you.

I really like this theme, but the constant shaky sliding is driving me nuts. How do I make it so that the bar only comes out when I click on it? Prefereably it would just come out, not that fancy (but shaky) sliding thing.

Thanks,

Chris

Why not use Kommander? It's got to be the best dialog tool IMHO.

The short answer, is that I'd never heard of it before.

However, having just had a quick look at the project, it looks very interesting. I'll definitely have to investigate.

Thanks for pointing this out.

Having trouble with the side tabs. How are those supposed to work exactly? When I load the theme, it opens up, then folds away and I never see it again (makes it tough to dock on the side of the screen like your screenshot)...

It folds down:

When you mouse over the main part of the widget;

When the theme updates.

It folds out:

When you mouse over the area where the handle would be (if it weren't folded downd).

You shouldn't need to have the tab out to be able to have the theme slide from the side of the screen. You just need to mouse over an area about 30 pixels wide at the side of the screen.

Hope that helps.

Not at all related to your Karamba theme, but what is the bar at the bottom? I assume it's Karamba related, but I haven't found it in the usual spots.

Wow this is really cool, I can't wait to try it out!

What's that GTK theme?! It's like bluecurve but even better!

Theme == Mandrake Galaxy theme. The only reason it's there, is that I don't know how to change it in kde. If I change the gtk theme in gnome, it's changed in gnome, but go back to kde, and it's still galaxy.

Using mdk9.1 btw. Anyone know how to fix this?
