If you are using Linux, you also could open terminal, cd to the folder, where downloaded file is located and use command:tar xvzf ./126997-Onigiri.tar.gz -C ~/.purple/smileysThen restart pidgin, and you should be able to select smileys in the aforementioned dialogue.
