GONXStyle
Source (link to git-repo or to original if based on someone elses unmodified work): Add the source-code for this project on opencode.net
This is a simple widget theme for those folks out there who aren't into shiny fancy 3d stuff and all that hoo-ha.
It's based loosly on fake screenshots of BeOS r6 which circulated a while back -- it was called "Gonx", so that's the basis of this style's name. The screenshots were fake, but they looked good.
Also, I based this on the excellent dotNET style. Thanks to Chris Lee!

Sorry, I'm so wet behind the ears I have to wear a towel round my neck. I've got Mandrake 8.1, I did what the install told me to do, it all went well till it said sumthink like "x path incorrect" I have no clue what that means.
Maybe I should shoot myself...

I use slackware, so I'm not 100% certain what could be going on. If i recall correctly, Mandrake is redhat based, right? Redhat does things... oddly. The install instructions in the README cover Mandrake installation, but I snagged them from dotNET's README.
Sounds like you have to do a
./configure --prefix=/usr or something like that.
... or you could use slack ;)

it's very slick, but can you also supply the colour scheme you use, maybe including other optimised settings like the greyed out icons?

I'm going out of own this weekend and am rather busy at the moment, but I'm working on fixing a few details which don't work quite right, such as QMultiLineEdit and the column headers for Q/KListBox. I'm also cleaning up the code and working on making sure pixels are never drawn over twice (not that I really have that much control, but it could make the style snappier)
When I've done that, I'll repackage it as .8 and supply the color scheme.
Regarding the greyed out icons, you can do it yourself in the icons control panel -- my setting is to have all toolbar & panel icons be greyed out until mouseover. It looks pretty keen.
I'm surprised nobody's asked about my home-brewed antialiased clock applet ;)

It's a sort of cross between a neural net with a (very) small number of smart neurons, and a more traditional emergent system. So far it's still heavily under development. That's why I took a couple evenings off to write this style.
