This is exactly the same Keramik as you get with KDE 3.1, with a slight twist.
Animated progress bars.
Please note: 1) This is beta software. By downloading it and installing it, you're providing us KDE developers with free beta testing, as usual. 2) This feature is not yet in KDE CVS, but with your help, it very well could be!
IMPORTANT: This will install over your existing Keramik! Either back up the keramik.la and keramik.so files you already have, or prepare to lose them. This version of Keramik may cause stability problems, including intermittent crashes.

UPDATE: Thanks to SadEagle, there's now an AVI available to show exactly what this does.
Look at http://c133.org/files/keramik-anim.avi if you want to see it... 'mplayer keramik-anim.avi -loop 0' will show you what it looks like in real life.
I didn't write this code. SadEagle did. :)
I just applied the patch, tested it, and packaged it up for you folks. Give it a try and let us know how it works! We're especially interested to find out any problems.

Any way to add more contrast?
BTW: How about a "candy stripe" effect.
This is easy to do with only left to right motion by modifying the bit map...

As far as the pinstripe goes... well, look around in the source! (Yes, this effect makes it possible to have real MacOS X-style progress bars.)
Now if only keithp would move along with the X Translucency Extension... :)

But I think it's better to implement animations using scripts though.. gives more possibilities (perhaps using QTScript??)

As it is, this is the most straightforward and efficient way to handle it. If you can come up with something better (as in code, not ideas) then please, feel free to show us up.

If there is an easy way to make an MNG out of a window, frame-by-frame, please let me know.

My progress bars are already animated?
Could you explain what you mean with 'animated'?
Is there something else that's moving, shuddering, jumping or whatever when using this patched version? :)
