Description:

This is a development snapshot of iKons 0.7. It contains some small improvements and some new icons: new 48x48 mimetype icons, new menu icons and a new quickbrowser icon.

(Note: I promised new icons for a digital camera and a smart-media drive. These icons aren't yet included in this release, but will be in the near future)

Do you know the name of that icon? I don't have an icon for Windows partitions, but I'll include one in the next iKons release if I know its name.

Are this icons compatible with the mouse hover function of KDE3? May be I made something wrong, but in the beta2 it worked not very good, and in the RC3 it does totally not work. I use your 0.6 release on SuSE 7.1.

Hovered icons need to be in MNG format. These are only PNG. See above.

Hi,

Thanks for adding a mail_get ikon...With your ability, you could probably do better than the default sent mail and kmail trash... icons.

also, I tried making some kmail ikons before, and they were alright i think but only covered mail_send, mail_reply, mail_replyall, and mail_forward which are not optimal in the default. If you like them, as i said before, you can add them to your iKons... i can make larger sizes if you want me to.

I think we need new icons for trash and devices (floppy, cd). The same style should be used as for hard disk.

What do you mean with this comment? The hard disc icon and other device icons are already very similar.

Actually I'm glad someone has mentioned this - I've always found the trash icon very ugly. Windows XP has a nice icon for it.

Device icons in iKons 0.5 were much more detailed than they are now. Especially hard disk icon is now very simple. But floppy and CD(-R(W)) icons are somewhere in the middle between "simple" and "detailed".
So, I'd like to see them even more simple. I think you agree that the trash icon should also be improved - maybe more simple;-).
The point is that you have to decide whether you'll produce "simple" or "detailed" icons. Both can be good, but combination of them never.
SO: Go on! You can do it!

I'm looking for a good open source (or free software) application to make SVG iKons. Everaldo already made some SVG icons, but he used commercial software to do this. It's the same problem with animated icons: if you want to make an animated MNG icon, you'll need ms Windows. I only use open source (or free software) applications, such as Gimp, to make iKons. As soon as I have a good application to make SVG icons, I'll make some SVG icons. In the meanwhile: enjoy the current iKons release :o)

in koffice there is a svg editor, don't know about animation though..

create an animated gif with gimp and pipe it through convert from imagemagick :)

This is still better than crystal, which just imitates your iKons, OSX icons and winxp icons!
Go on, make it even better...

Thanx for your comment :o). The purpose of iKons 0.7 will be to add more consistency to the icon theme. I also added new 48x48 mime type icons. What do you think of them? If you like it, I 'll also add iKons mime type icons for 16x16, 32x32 and 64x64.

I don't like that icon because it does not look like the other mime-type-icons. image2.png fits better to the scheme IMHO.

sound.png might be hard to distinguish in 16x16, the speaker is ok for smaller icons.

video.png certainly looks nice though it might be also nice to make that one look like above mime-type-icons

Last but not least I have no idea what this apple-icon is for :)

Of course I like the MIME types - so add them for 16x16, 32x32 and 64x64, too, please.
