A simple application for resizing images, inspired by GTPY - ImageResizer (www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=32338)
But I used C++/QT and QImage class to convert the images.

SIR - Simple Image Resizer can convert into and from the following formats:

· JPEG
· PNG
· BMP
· GIF
· XPM
· PGM
· PBM
· PPM

SIR also can rotate your images.

This is GREAT! I use it for converting photos from digital cam (JPEG'S 100% quality to 75% quality). Poor that it is QT-based (not KDE-based) but it is still GREAT program. Thanks!

From the "INSTALL" file:
"There is no additional 'make install' command. Copy the file 'sir'
(this is SIR) to the folder where you've choosen to run SIR. "

So you can either run the "sir" program by double-clicking on it in the folder using Konqueror or via the command line if you are in the folder by running: ./sir

You'll have to manually add it to the K-Menu using the Menu Editor (Right click on the K-Menu -> Menu Editor)

Hope this helps.

If i have picture size as 1600x800 and i want resize it as 1150x625 it does it. But if i like to resize it as _____x500 Does it add right size to Widht if i just type 500 to Height?

This would be in situations when i know that i need picture what must be at most 500px wide but there is no limit to height.

Hi,

what resize algorithm do you use? Bicubic, Lanczos,..?

Additionally it would be nice to offer an option to slightly sharpen the image before saving as Jpeg.

I use the scale method from provided by QImage class

Report

That's very bad because qt uses bilinear resizing.

I could REALLY use a feature that lets you specify the final file size of the image. There are some forums that let you upload images to their gallery, but not filesizes bigger tnah - let's say - 160Kb. I would like the possibility to keep an images' size (1024x768) but shrink it's filesize to my liking.
Other than that, nice app. :)
