In order to compile kiso, I had to add these lines to dirops.h:

#include <inttypes.h>
#include <icc34.h>

I think you should add them to the sources, it shouldn't hurt.

Btw, I love this app :)

if you want to install Kiso in fedora 2 you need to install libselinux-devel first.

You need to have libcdio-devel installed on your system.

Report

Perhaps it would be a good idea to add a dependency list to your homepage and the description on kde-apps, because to me it seems not so common to have libcdio installed.

Report

On http://kiso.sourceforge.net
All required packages YES even libcdio is listed under Required packages: in the download section.

The libcdio is listed as (KIso needs libcdio to run now !) in the ChangeLog (Version 0.4)

On Sourceforge net it is sayed that KIso needs libcdio to compile and to run as note in every version from 0.4 onward.

What else shall I do ?

For me it seems nor so common that somebody can't read !!!!

Report

chrber

Okay, my mistake. But the requirements list is placed wrong, because when I visit your page and go to downloads, I only see the "Required packages" headline and that's all, which means I need to scroll. (I use a screen resolution of 1024x768)

Perhaps it would be better to place it above the downloads and stress it by using a border or another color.

If you are installing Kiso from source, you need the devel libraries to build it. Here : libcdio0-devel

You mean kio_iso (from 2002) ?

Kio_iso is a KDE 3 ioslave, for reading ISO-9660 (ECMA-119) file system images.

It can read from a so-called .iso file, or directly from the CD-ROM device.

The later has the ability to select from the recorded sessions.

Maybe you should look here:

http://kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=11577

http://libcdrom.sourceforge.net/kio_iso.html

Maybe you could help them keeping it up to date ? =P

Add text under each Toolbar button
so it's more clear what each buttons do.

So, people don't have to go through
the help and learn what each symbol means even though some are obvious...

I know there is no text underneath the buttons but every button has a tooltip so that you can see what it does when you move the mouse over it.

nah it's better with text,
it takes few seconds for tooltips...

There is a general consensus that when you have very large toolbar buttons (such as here), you should have text on the buttons as well.

I would agree with the above idea of replacing your top bar with a standard toolbar widget (it would give the user more options as well, such as being able to move it out of the program window and so on). It would also help the problem above, as you could simply set a text, force 128x128 size buttons, and just hide the text on your installation, and then let others just right click and select "Text under icons" ;) All in all, in everybody's favour :)

Very nice idea!

I'm curious to know how the program adds files to an iso image. I've tried already mounting an iso image as rw (mount -o loop...) , but never managed. Maybe I'm just missing an option.

Does it extract and recreate the whole image? (it needs quite a bit of space)

Report

Doing a bit of gg research and ignoring all the "it's impossible" comments on several maillists, I found out that one can use -l -R to create RockRidge extended isos, and those can be modified. I guess that's what the program does. Anyway, I'll have to check the code... ;)

Check that you have sudo in your PATH.

I had the same problem before I installed sudo.

Hopefully it helps.

It would help alot if I knew which distribution you use.
Otherwise it's too hard for me to figure out where the problem might be.
