What video card are you using?

Last thing I read in nVidia readme is:
Composite extension is not compatible with their GL. Xv also seemed to take a beating when nVidia's GLX is on.

If you have an nVidia card, how are you coping with all the loss of functionality?

Yop,

Nvidia GeForce Fx 5600 TD 256.

xorg.conf :

Section "Device"

Identifier "Card0"
Driver "nvidia"
Option "NoLogo" "1"
Option "RenderAccel" "true"
Option "AllowGLXWithComposite" "True"

EndSection

Hmm, I found that running any glx application (glxgears, xscreensaver, our own stuff) will immediately crash the Xserver.. too bad, because it looks sooo cool ;)

I use an nVidia gforce2 MX/MX 400 with GLX and composite enabled and all works fine on my end. I'm not sure what functionality you are referring to, being a loss that is. Shadows and transparancies work quite well.
