only sideeffect is that you dont get MUCH news with gnome 2 the first time you start it up you think its still gnome 1.

Us real people use a functional feature rich desktop (rara?) and don't have a desktop/server just to showoff or stare at the whole day.

Size and photorealism have nothing to do with it -- it's the colour. There's waaaaaay too much emphasis on army-green shades and everything looks too dark. The thick black lines around everything don't help, either.
I sincerely hope that KDE retains its bright, crisp and clean look-and-feel.

I'll try to put it in words... GNOME looks professional. Industrial. Serious. Predictable. Mundane. KDE, on the other hand, looks inviting. Residential. Fun. Optimistic. Artistic.
I use this computer at home to unwind, to relax, and occasionally to do work. Is it any wonder I prefer the KDE style?
