i followed the directions on the site to install using the gentoo ebuild. however, it doesn't seem that it worked for me. however, the ebuilds seems to have completed without error. howeever, the kxdocker binay doesn't exist. has anyone else installed this on gentoo? can you explain how you got it to work? thanks.

Since I upgraded to 0.35, the GDate plugin doesn't work anymore: I just see an empty space on my docker. I tried installing the dashboard theme, but that works only half. What do I have to do to get it to work again?

Great! But since the latest updates to the plugins I can't find the gentoo ebuilds for all the plugins. Where have they gone? Or do I need contact lenses?

compiles fun and runs with no troubles, but a strip remains avross the screen where the enlarged fonts were. .33 doesn't present this problem, so it may have to do with the antialising, and I do have dri enabled, so it could be that as well.

First of all: i really, really like this bar, it works very smooth and has a really cool layout..... but I won't (or better: can't) use it because the configuration of new buttons is to chaotic, and the layout of the config tool isn't intuitive.
On my normal kicker bar I have 20-30 icons, and i manually need to add them to this bar - a heck of a job. Some things like bookmarks or Yast (witch must be start under 'root') can't be added to this bar ('run as user...' functionallity).
Another thing: it seems this bar read my (normal) kicker configuration (or you have included a default kicker layout): there are some 20-30 icons settings in your config list but on the bar there are only 10 icons. Why doesn't your bar show the complete icon list (max. icon settings is set to 100)?

Concluded - and perhaps an idea:

The best thing here would be drag & drop support for Icons. When i drop an icon from my kicker to your bar it should be configured/added automaticly.

Best regards -

To the comment above about having a dock bar better than osx: You have to be kidding me. OSX doesn't even remotely require the massive effort to set up a dock bar. Hell, you just drag and drop and it is done.

This one won't adjust the transparent image when you switch desktops. This one won't size the icons properly. This one stretches some icons and they look horrid. This one seems to need to put itself in the system tray of the kicker. This one doesn't size the gap between the icons and the borders when you set the icons to a certain size. You can't size the whole dock bar by simply grabbing the border like you can in OSX. In OSX the creation of the transparency is done in a slick and instantaneous fashion whereas this one draws slowly and takes a snapshot instead of actually making a transparency. With this one you can't drag and drop reorganize.

FFS get the damn transparency right at least. Stop copying the code from one program to another to add features to yours and make a real transparent window like we see in the commercial operating systems.

On top of that this one doesn't compile.

make[2]: *** No rule to make target `xeplugin_dcop_skel.cpp', needed by `xeplugin_dcop_skel.o'. Stop.

it compiles fine here on FC3. and in OSX, you cant scroll icons and it isnt as customizable as this one. you just have to figure out how to use it.

ya, it needs to work a little better getting with shadows/transparency, but w/e.

we have a better OSX dock than OSX does :P

good work, im going to compile the new version. the latest fedora rpm is 2.8, and composite shadow is horrible.

I am able to add just about any icon I want into this new version of Kxdocker. For those of you who are trying to add Firefox, go into the configurator -> Obejcts tab -> Click on the Wand icon to add new icon -
-This are the settings that I gave it for it:
Name: Firefox
Group: Mozilla-Firefox
Classname: Gicon
Overtex shadow: Firefox

Then click Images tab and select any icon that would like for FF.
Click on the actions tab: OnClickExec: firefox
Click on the Tasks tab: click on the new window icon (not the check mark, or the one with the X) and make sure you have Firefox opened. Once you click on this new window icon, you will see a list of things that you have running. Delete everything in there except for Firefox listd on the window tittle....that's it(delete by using the X icon). Now this is very important - click on the enable botton - ok. And finally click on the save botton to save your configurations...which is probably on
~./kde/share/apps/Kxdocker/ and you should see there a kxdocker_conf.xml file. Click on it and save (Remember that to get there the .kde file on your home directory is hidden, so make sure to select show hidden files from the save window dialog box). If it doesn't show immediately on the bar, restart Kxdocker.

That's all....You can add just about any icon to the bar this way or by also draging the icon from your task bar to the kxdocker bar, but I thinking the name that you give in the Group name has to be unique for it to show, so I was say using MyFirefox, MyBrowser, etc. Otherwise it won't show.

NOW, my question is has anybody been able to show the clock or date icons. I was able to add the gclock_digitalized plug in to it, but it is not working properly...the icon shows the minutes correct. but the hour just keep changing all the time...at least I show that icon, but the date icon (the one that shows the today's date) I'm anot able to show the icon. Let us know if it anybody succeeded at this!!
