Cursors by Kraplax 5 comments

Uhhhmmm, Yeah. So Gnome sorts out the capital letters first and then puts all the lowercase named cursors after that. It was in the middle and I was looking at the end. Works fine. :)

You got any more cursors like this that animate the transitions? - Jan 11 2008

Looks awesome. But on my system it appears to only work with KDE. :( Do you have it working with Gnome? - Jan 11 2008
Unity Albino

Metacity Themes by Anywhere 3 comments

As with bvc's "Unity," there are actually 6 different Metacity Themes. "Unity Albino" and "Unity Albino No Red" both have square corners. The other four have round corners. The one in the screenshot is "Unity Albino Round." - Dec 18 2007
Vista Start Menu for Gnome Panel

Could I suggest you rename this to something without "Vista" in it, and have its default theme be something original, rather than looking like a Vista copy?

This is indeed an excellent piece of work, however, it would be better for this to be something original, with a Vista-ish theme available, than something Vista-ish with original themes available. I can easily see this becoming the default "start-button-counterpart" for a number of distributions. All of them (OK, maybe not SuSE) are likely to shy away from anything that suggests trying to copy Windows. I think also most Linux users would prefer something original by default, with Windows and Mac look-alike themes for those who want them.

This is currently my Mac-a-like theme of choice. I've seen a couple of updates, but have no clue as to what changed. Can you have a changelog on this page?

Excellent job! - Dec 07 2007

Actually, I gave that a try but was not successful. Ultimately, I decided to lighten the panel a bit so the black text would show up better.

Three questions for whoever on Gnome-Look might know: Can anyone point me to a reference manual that completely documents what settings to tweak exactly what colors in the Clearlooks engine? Also, anyone know how to make "Create Launcher" (and any other dialogs that use the panel background) render with the normal background? - Dec 06 2007

System Sounds by mentalrey 18 comments

I once again had to load the sound in Audacity and export it. I guess Gnome on certain distros (Ubuntu in my case) can be especially fussy. :( - Nov 15 2007

I hope you'll keep the existing End around, maybe as an alternative in the .zip. I currently use "Start" when GDM comes up, and "End" when I log in... --because despite Ubuntu's speed improvements Gnome still takes its sweet time starting up. :) - Nov 13 2007

I had a great deal of difficulty converting the MP3's to a usable WAV so that Gnome could use them. In case anyone else is having the same problem, you have to use Audacity. Do not use the "Sound Converter" program in Ubuntu Gutsy. While Sound Converter will create a WAV file that can be previewed and played in Totem, Gnome itself will be fussy and usually not like it. The version exported from Audacity has not yet given me trouble.

Mentalrey: I don't suppose you'd be kind enough to post .WAV versions of the sounds that are usable with Gnome? - Nov 13 2007

I think it would look better if you switched around which elements were green and which were red. Especially if the elements with diagonal stripes could be red & white like candy canes (if that is possible). - Nov 12 2007
The problem with the tabs (inherited from another theme???) is that they look like they were hand-drawn by an amature. They don't match the rest of the theme, which looks sharp and professional.

I don't own a copy of leopard myself, but take a look at this picture, which appears to show leopard's tabs. Can you aim for something like that?

All-in-all, it's "almost" perfect. Straighten out the tabs, and it will be my mac-a-like theme of choice. - Nov 01 2007
