Color Folder

Dolphin Service Menus by HessiJames 72 comments

Could you please be a little bit more specific. I don't use samba so I can't test anything.
Did you mount the folder or are you accessing it with the smb kio slave (url starts with smb://)?
If you use the smb kio slave then it is not possible and the color folder context shouldn't even show up.
Otherwise, have you checked permissions? Could you try changing the icon manually (right click on the folder -> properties -> click on the icon). - May 07 2013

I just added basic support for opusenc and opusdec, ffmpeg 1.0 seems to make some troubles.
It will be available in soundkonverter 2.0 but I have no release date yet. Though it looks pretty much ready to me. (Have a look at the git repo if you want.) - Oct 04 2012

I'm sorry but that is something I don't want to implement. I think the risk of data loss is too high to justify this imho very rarely used feature. - Sep 25 2012

Audio Extractors/Converters by HessiJames 608 comments

So you want to convert from mp3 to mp3 and overwrite the original file?
Why would you do that? This means that you decrease the quality without leaving a copy of the original files.
soundkonverter was meant to convert between different file formats or to convert to a lower quality for mobile devices but leaving the original files untouched. - Sep 16 2012

Audio Extractors/Converters by HessiJames 608 comments

You are not the first one to ask for that. But I didn't want to implement it because I'm afraid that someday a bug could lead to data loss because of this. But I'm thinking about it.
Would you mind to describe a use case in which overwriting the output file is needed? - Sep 15 2012

soundkonverter searches for both, mppenc and mpcenc.
could it be that mppenc is not marked as executable?
what happens if you try to call it from a terminal (just 'mppenc' - without full path)? - May 14 2012

Audio Extractors/Converters by HessiJames 608 comments

As it looks to to me, the musepack format version depends on the mppenc/mpcenc version. So if you want sv7 files, you need to download and install version 1.16 from musepack.net. Also make sure to uninstall version 1.30 or whatever you have installed to avoid mix-ups. - May 13 2012

Unfortunately ubuntu 12.04 is not available on the open build service yet. I'll add it as soon as it gets possible.

Could you please send me the log of such a file.
You can send it directly to hessijames gmail com.

Here's how to do that:
1. Try to convert the file.
2. Then open the "Log Viewer" by clicking on "Conversion" in the menu bar and selecting "View logs...".
The Log Viewer will now open in a new window.
3. By default the Log Viewer will show the log of the soundKonverter application, sending me this log won't hurt.
4. But the more important log is the log for the file you just tried to convert in step 1. To see that log, click on the combo box (drop down box) at the top of the Log Viewer window and select the file.
5. To save a log to a file, click on the "Save to file..." button on the bottom of the Log Viewer.
6. Attache latter or both log files to your bug report.

Hi,

if I try to unmount my usb stick the process kio_thumb is blocking the device.
lsof shows that there are multiple files that are kept open - all MS OLE files some with thumbnails, some without.
This does not happen with OOXML files.

Thanks for your comment.
I fixed the problem with dollar signs and backticks.
One file you sent me (01 Sgt. Pepper's...) seems to be broken. I couldn't get it to convert or play with any program.

Also I couldn't confirm your problem with FAT file names. Could it be that you added the file and turned FAT compatible file names on after that?

Regarding the columns, I like the way it is now because they show the minimum set of information you need in order to know what's happening. And I know that resizing the columns makes them snap back to the default width sometimes. I'll have a look at that. - Jun 21 2011

mp3gain indeed modifies the audio file but it stores correction data into the frames and can thereby undo all the changes.
You can test it yourself by running:
md5sum <file>
mp3gain -k -a <file>
mp3gain -u <file>
mp3gain -s d <file>
md5sum <file>

But thanks to you I found a related bug. Removing the changes made by mp3gain doesn't work with soundkonverter, so please don't use it until the next version.

Also choosing between APE and ID3 tags is on my todo list. - May 07 2011

Hi,

1. yeah, the '*' character is used as a wildcard in the bash, i'll have a look at that.

2. maybe i'll make it this way in the future. but the current way is more reliable. the replay gain backend takes all files from an album and writes the tags itself. this wouldn't be possible at the moment because of a bug in taglib. i posted a patch to fix that bug so it might be possible in the future.

Thank you for your report, you have a very valid point. Unfortunately it would not be a small bug fix but rather a redesign of the way settings are saved.
So I'll have to delay that for the next version.
