Hi there! Welcome to the internet. You must be new. Prepare to see things you don't necessarily approve of.

Just as you have your own belief system, I have mine. I find this image humorous, if not a bit campy. It's certainly better than some of the "art" (read: nudes with KDE logos gimp'd on) posted on this site.

There is a simple solution to your dilema: if you don't like the content, don't use the image. I admit this may not be the most appropriate site for this kind of work, but if the "Oh, God" comment is offensive, you must have a difficult time in public. I hear worse from teenagers on a daily basis.

A bit off-topic, but what is the WinAmp skin you are using there?

Also, what is the docker / menubar / taskbar at the bottom of the screenshot?

Thanks, and great windec by the way. - May 10 2004

...great. Just what the doctor ordered for that fuckhead Tim. I'm pretty tired of seeing his religous wallpapers, not to mention the lack of any art skill or talent whatsoever they display. The guy's a schmuck.

If you read his bio, he says Jesus saved him from a life of pornography addiction. He's typical of many recovering addicts in that they grasp fervently onto some other cause or activity to fill the void left by their addiction. While I'm happy he changed his life for what he perceives to be the better, I don't want to hear another fucking word about Jesus on kde-look.

I come here for KDE related material. Tim's wallpapers simply *aren't* kde related. End of story. Any argument to the contrary is inherently and intrinsicly flawed. It would be one thing if his wallpapers were a) artistic or b) accepted by the kde-look community. It's clear through the voting system that neither is true.

Stop abusing the voting system and mucking up the kde-look frontpage, you fucking bible-beater. No one cares about how great your life is now. Fuck off, got it?

I think I'll start taking pictures dogshit on my lawn, and post them to kde-look. Because it's kde related because it's an image that can be used as a background. Right? - Dec 15 2003

Thanks. - Apr 15 2003
I love these KDE related discussions!

Every idiot (myself included!) with a brain and a keyboard has an opinion. Post your opinion on the appropriate site.

This isn't about whether the war is right / wrong / fun / costly / getting good tv coverage, etc., etc. and more etc.

I will admit that this is kde related, as it pertains to art for a kde app. But it only gets silly discussions like this started. By folks like you, who can't see the titles in their browser windows. Whenever you see "Iraq", you knee-jerk to type the same response you've no doubt typed countless times in countless emails and on countless other message boards.

Please, people, take your war talk to another forum. - Apr 14 2003
... let's vote this thing as close to zero as possible.

There are plenty of places to discuss and incite discussion on current world events. I don't turn to kde-look for those discussions.

Off-topic, indeed. - Apr 14 2003

I think Your wallpaper is a little too XP like, these four guys colours (representing Linux users) are too XP, could You make them more Crystalized ;-)?

Too XP-like? The colors are easy on the eyes. I doubt if the artist had XP solely in mind when creating this image. More "crystalized"? I love the crystal icon theme; why in hell does every kde decoration have to be in the same vein as the Crystal icons?

And change their colours a little, current colours remind me WinXP logo ;-)

Well if they remind you of XP, then they must remind everyone! He'll get right on top of your request, I'm sure. - Apr 09 2003

Look under "Other" here on kde-look, or search for Karamba. It's a neat, highly configurable monitor / information program.

There are a few themes out already, others have made some as well as myself. The one in my screenshot is my glass bar theme. - Apr 09 2003

I wasn't trying to be argumentative, I like the work. I was hoping comments like the one Chriswhatever made below wouldn't make it here, but it's inevitable. Everyone with a keyboard has an opinion, we all know that. Unfortunately it's the uniformed on both sides of any debate that are the most vocal, which makes each side look like foolish.

I'm sure most of us come to kde-look for kde related material; there are countless other places for this silly discussion to go on. - Apr 08 2003

...does every site on the Internet with a messageboard (or one that has content uploads) have to have a disucssion that's war related (or war-related but otherwise off-topic content)? It's mind boggling. All I can do is sigh.

Thank you!

I made this theme for myself, as I wanted something more color-neutral that would work with any color scheme or background. I'm glad others are able to find it useful; positive feedback is always nice.

This was the first time I've done anything other than resize an image in The GIMP, so if anyone has any suggestions or comments feel free to post them here or email them to me. - Apr 07 2003

Microsoft might not do a lot of things just as the open source, FSF, etc. community might like them to, but you can bet that their legal department wouldn't let them "steal" some icons for distribution with *every* copy of Windows XP sold. - Mar 28 2003

Don't ask this moron, he just packaged the files, then submitted the packages without care for the original GPL license. For any help, go to the Slicker page on Sourceforge.

To the kid that packaged these: there's no need to get all pissy when someone points out that you need to respect the authors' original copyright when posting these packages. - Mar 12 2003

KDE (from 3.0 on, anyway) has always (on my system) listed all available xscreensaver entries in the KControl screensaver module.

I come to kde-look for KDE-related material. My thoughts on this politcal statement aside, what the *fuck* does this have to do with KDE?

That's right, nothing. Other than the fact that KDE has the ability to display these bits as wallpaper. - Feb 11 2003
