you have to replace the start-here.png located in places directory in the icon theme you choose, this only set it up for 128 px size, you have to change the size for the other size directories and replace it in each one.

If you use main menu applet as default menu you can set it up using gconf-editor.

Do normal setup in gnomenu preferences, install the button theme and set your panel in top of your desktop. if your panel is in the bottom the button is flipped down, when you set the panel on top the button takes the correct position. - Feb 01 2010
