1. If you update your submission, please write any changes to the changelog. People tend to vote down stuff which gets updated without any visible changes to the item, so it's in your own interest.

2. Are higher resolutions possible? I bought a TFT lately and since then, 1024x768 got a little too small to be of any use ;-)

The web forms is one of the things I really dislike in standard Firefox, both under Linux and Win2k.
So I really like this one here, it's a vast optical improve. Keep going! :) - Mar 15 2005

HOW-TO install

Cursors by jev 15 comments

Do you now have your cursortheme everywhere in X?
Because I have the problem that on KDE Desktop, I get the white hand when moving over a desktop icon, not the hand cursor of my mouse theme. Same with Windows-Resize cursors, I always get black arrows instead of the resize-cursors my theme has. And that is at all windows.

I even tried and changed index.theme in X11/icons to
[Icon Theme]
but still it didn't use the whiteglass cursors on Desktop icons and windows borders.
Just in Mozilla I get the whiteglass hand cursor when moving the mouse over an url.

Don't know why it doesn't work.. :-( - Aug 03 2004

Pinstripe firefox theme

Various KDE 1.-4. Styles by 18volt 3 comments

...why do these baghira clone makers always abuse the classic.jar for this? Every Firefox has the ability to import themes having their own jar file. I have plastikfox installed, and it has its own jar file. No backup of classic jar needed ;-)
I know you are not to blame, just a note for those theme makers. I have 5 pinstripe themes, all different, all classic.jar...

Another thing: I use a Safari lookalike skin under linux, called "evolution". Has it's own jar file, uses GTK2 for buttons and sliders. So best get a good aqua GTK theme ;-)

Plastik / Knifty Xmms Skin

XMMS Skins by seb 25 comments

Winamp has this skin-files, called *.wsz.
Xmms can also use these.
Howto from

1) With the Zip compression tool of your choice, zip YOUR skin folder (not the Winamp "Skins" folder)into a .ZIP file.
2) Rename the new file's extension from .ZIP to .WSZ.
3) Test it by removing your skin folder, then placing your .WSZ into the Winamp "Skins" folder.
4) Run Winamp, then press Alt-S to access the Skin browser. If you see your skin, then everything worked correctly.

So perhaps it would be a bit more comfort to provide a .wzs to use the skin without extracting it. Just a proposal. ;-)

BTW: Skin's very nice, so I voted gooood! :-) - Jun 22 2004

Hehe, if sb. uses this wallpaper, it tells him not to run whole KDE as root. If he follows this advice, he has no reason anymore to use the wallpaper, since he is not root.

Thus, u did create a wallpaper which advices his to better never see it again. ;-)

I like it, message or not. It's very nicely done, great work. Although the one with the speedometer is more my style than the needle. ;-)

Don't be troubles by a bunch of bad votes. Some people confuse criticism with ignorance, that's a sad fact.

I personally think that the "bad" button ist to vote down terribly drawn submits or ones with a terible message, not to vote down everything which doesn't fit my taste exactly. Remember that, guys. Just be fair... - Jun 04 2004

Various Plasma 5 Improvements by dangvd 703 comments

First, thanks a lot for this great bar, I'm using Ksmoothdock as an iconbar, and kicker as a mere taskbar on the screen-top. And the configuration menu is nice and works fine! :-)

But one question: I really like those little desktop screens for switching in normal zooming mode, what I don't like are these 4 white-blue monitors in parabolic zooming mode.
Is there any chance got get the little scrrens in parabolic mode too?
I guess parabolic zooming is tricky with them...but perhaps you could exclude them from the zoom, like in normal zooming mode.

Just a proposal, but good looking desktop switches would make me happier than zooming ones.
Would be great if this could be chosen in the configuration menu. :-) - May 29 2004

By "unconventional" I mean that they got their own flow and are not similar to any other wallpapers I know. Not the usual colors (blue is very popular, you know *g*), not the usual shapes or looks (shiny apple-style pictures etc., like mine perhaps *g*)
I just wanted to say that the look was new to me, which is good :)

As for the other wallies you made: featering_KDE is good, thats why it has good votes. featering_the_heart is a bit too white in my opinion, and that one with the TUX has this ugly red outline.
I like this here the most, because the photo blends in nicely, and it's not easy to do a good mix of photo and effects.
You can do another one with a picture if you like, pix of chix always have their fans here.

And don't worry about this (sometimes silly) voting-system. If you produce bad art, people will tell you. If you produce good art, they will tell you too. I did... ;) - Dec 29 2003

Yeah, I like it, it's unconventional and very good. How about some higher resolutions than 800x600 and some bigger previews next time? ;)
And the female sign is a little bit too edgy in my eyes, but of course I know nothing about art...*g* ;)

So, do some more, cause I dig chix knowing gimp better than I do (and who dig Linux of course)! - Dec 26 2003

They are great, a very nice alternative to the Crystal icons. I love them so far!!!
Making icons is not easy and a lot of work, and it's great to see how fine u do here! :)

Just two little things:
1. Other color tones than blue would be great, e.g. smokey grey (or call it graphite) is one tone I really like ;)

2. The one with the pencil is the open office icon? I'd love to have one with the two sea gulls, can you make one? (would be more like the original logo).

... not so long ago, ther was the same discussion in the board here, and some poeple pointed out that with GPL, u have to give out the source if requested, but you don't have to upload it.

I think it's better for KDE-Look not to upload source for pictures, since most people just want the picture. It would be a traffic-waste if we all had to download the source just to get the picture.
