"P.S. I posted here for others to read and comment on as well..."

Nice, I appreciate it a lot.. Sincerely I prefer dA, because its interface is more powerful, but it's the same ;)

However, as I already told you aswering to you private message, "the problem is that if a software places its icons in "/usr/share/pixmaps", the problem is inside the software itself! The only thing an iconset can do is to draw such an icon, if the program isn't able to catch it, I cannot do much more.. This comes also a lot of other sw that places their icons in that folder; for example spotify and sonata!"

"For video-x-generic, can you please send me a screenshot?"

"For other icons for openbox: I know, you told me some days ago, and when I'll have time (I have a life too ;): the need to eat and to earn money for example; and this project doesn't give me the possibility to eat [I dislike eating icons ;) ]!!) I'll draw them. "

Finally, these sentences: "Also in Firefox, are all the buttons suppose to be grey, or should the Stop button be a different color, or any other ones be a different color too?

Also in a File Manager are all the buttons grey too? Because I had one time the New Tab button turn green for PCManFM-MOD but then it changed to grey."

Replied to this sentence: "So I was at a loss to understand the script since it doesn't seem to be needed."

The previous is a kind of behaviour that you can change using the customization script, so if some time ago you had green add button (and red close button, and also other coloured icons), but now you don't have any, it means that you ran the script and it successfully worked! - Feb 05 2011

The first question that comes to my mind is why you post messages here (on gnome-look.org), on deviantart, and moreover you send me private messages. Choose one channel and follow it forever, it will be more simple following you, isn't it? :)

The second is: if you want to know the reasons of the existence of a script, the only thing you have to do is seeing what it does, and then the answer will be obvious! So, what the script does: it changes folders, start-here, color-nocolor, some other icons. So, the purpose of the script is (magically) changing folders, start-here, color-nocolor, and some other icons!!! Moreover, it's written quite huge in the preview image and in the pdf file: "Simple customization script to change preference between.. etc etc".

I know what an icontheme needs to run; the reason for what there are iconset in two folders is that in /usr/share there is the original (and perfectly running) version, in .icons there is the customized one!

Third question: why did you pose that questions?

YOU'RE WELCOME

PS: "For Window Managers you only need to also place them in ~/.icons and use either a .gtkrc-2.0 or a GUI preferences, if available for the particular window manager you use..." <- I think you ment ~/.themes ;) - Feb 05 2011

Hi!!!

Sorry for the late reply!

However, you did a big mad work translating the whole thread from italian! It means that you love this theme very much!

Unfortunately, I didn't already added the last part of the guide in wich I explain how to customize clickable conky and how to get them running.. I'll do this as soon as possible! However, I think that this is not the best way to get support, so I opened a new thread in ubuntuforums.org. Here's the link: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10401529#post10401529

Post your request there, because also another user asked me the (quite) same thing! :) - Jan 27 2011

Those clickable conky requires further processing because they need to be customized.. if you want, I can give you all the support you need to get them work fine! :)

But maybe it would be better if we use some other channel, like ubuntuforums or forum.ubuntu-it.org.. In the latter there already is a thread in wich users ask support for this work (and summerRebirth, because they are quite similar)!! - Jan 26 2011

Thanks mate!! I'm glad to know that you liked it.. personally in my opinion is my best work! :)

For conky I know, it's a bit tricky, but it's conky, and it always need to test the user's skills before running in the right way.. :) - Jan 26 2011

A fundamental question that I forgot: the iconset changes correctly after running the script? Because it can be only a little problem in your terminal.. so the script runs until the end, and then your terminal closes itself! :) - Jan 25 2011

Some questions (don't worry, in the worst case we can start doing some little debugging and we'll find the bug!):

1. have you typed "y" when it asked this question: "Configuration process is finished. Notice that until now script has changed only main options. Do you want to run other options of the customize.sh file? (y/[n])"?
The command you're referring to in your message is this right? "Now I'll start the recovery script. Type any key to continue."

2. What were your choices? You can see them in the ".AwOkenrc" file located in your home!

3. icontheme is updated to the 1.6 version?

4. how you ran the script (literally say to me all the informations I can need to delineate the problem)?

5. Can you post me the script output before the keypressing that starts those fast outputs and the crash?

Cheers,

a trick (I don't know if it works, but for an user solved his issue): type in a terminal window:

sudo cp ~/.icons/AwOken/awoken-icon-theme-customization /usr/bin

and then re-call the script by typing simply:

awoken-icon-theme-customization

now it works? - Nov 29 2010

It's really really strange.. neither folders, nor computer/start-here/home icons were changed! But the strange thing is that the script seems to work.. indeed, if you type in a terminal window (if fedora uses nautilus):

nautilus ~/.icons/AwOken/clear/128x128/places

you can see that icons are right.. or not? - Nov 29 2010

Already replied on DA, but to be complete I'll copy also here. However, you might not write several posts (two on Gnome-look.org and one on DeviantArt.com)! when I read a post on either one of them I reply to it always!

Have you correctly installed it? because inside the pack there is an archive called SummerRebirth.tar.gz, but you haven't to install it, because inside this archive there are three different themes. Maybe I might keep them in three different archives!

However, so what you have to do is extract the SummerRebirth.tar.gz archive, go in the "SummerRebirth" directory, and move those three folders in your ".themes" directory that is present in your home. If you don't know how to see it (because it's an hidden directory), just open your home and press "Ctrl+H"!!

Tell me if you solved.

as you can see, the icons are changed correctly (try to go in that folder by hand and see them with your eyes), so the problem is not in the script.. maybe with fedora you have to do something else (something different than ubuntu) to use an iconset? - Nov 26 2010

No prob for english, me too I'm using an online translator! Maybe communicating and having two online translators between us can make the conversation difficult.. :D

If you mean how can I get this single-entity effect, it's simple: I started with an idea, I developed first fake panels directly drawn over wallpapers, and then I made all other things (like conkys or conergloobus theme) according to the panel style! - Nov 23 2010

Do you have ubuntu or another distro? Did you install the set with the ppa or the DA download?
Can you post terminal output? I know that terminal closes before you can do this, but maybe you can do an online cut&paste (doing a cut&paste each step), to see when your terminal closes and where there is a bug! - Nov 23 2010

mm.. it's quite difficult change it I suppose.. the problem is that sometimes awn takes wrong icon (as it does with nautilus), and some other times icon cannot be changed (as it happens with firefox icon in gnome-panel window list).. so I'll try to change it, but I think it will be not possible.. do you know another iconset that can change that icon? - Nov 16 2010

1. there is a customization script to change preferences regard (among other things) default main menu icon (if you refer to the icon that appears to the left of the menu "Applications Places System" of the gnome-panel)
2. I didn't understand well what you mean.. :( my english is bad!
3. It's an awn bug, not my fault, you have to modify the icon by hand
4. I'll draw icons for those applications! I don't know if I'll include them in the 1.5 version or later, but if you're so kindly to wait a bit, I'll add them!

However, since my english is bad, and to understand better what you mean (for the second point in particular, but also if I understood bad other points), take a screenshot of your desktop and send me a link! :) - Nov 15 2010

It's simple, you only have to take a screenshot (Applications -> accessories), and host the resulting image in some image hosting site, for example imageshack. Then you have only to send me the link, and I'll can see it!

PS: I've 10.04 and evolution 2.28, so I don't know if evolution 2.30 needs new icons.. but I've seen that folder, and from the next version I'll add all those icons! :D - Nov 09 2010

I reply to this message 'cause I cannot do more replies to your last message.

However, here are two notes:
1. you have neither to run the script with sudo (more precisely, I suggest to do this never - and type the password only when requested), nor to run it in the folder /usr/share/icons/AwOken (you can run it from any directory, because it is in /usr/bin).
2. the script doesn't change icons in /usr/share/icons/AwOken, but copies the set in $HOME/.icons, and then modify the set in that folder. So it's possible having different customizations for users that use the same machine, and plus if something goes wrong or user does something wrong, the original set located in /usr/share/icons is preserved. So, after running the script, you have not to see if there are broken links in /usr/share/icons (a note: it's correct having those broken links, if you want I explain to you why), but if there are broken links in $HOME/.icons, because that is the set customized according to your preferences. You may think that doubling the iconset is useless, but it solves a lot of problems, and plus with a ppa update you can preserve your customizations (within certain limits) because the only thing that changes is the set in /usr/share/icons! - Nov 08 2010

Try to re-run the customization script (choosing 1 as first choice) and insert your preferences.. if there is again the issue, post here the whole terminal result, so I can know where my script fails.. :D - Nov 08 2010

Because s11, classy and sonetto folders need a further analysis, since I've add them only two weeks ago!

I'm sorry that the script did this, but it's the best thing to do if the user did some erroneous commands! :(

For those icons never mind, I'll add them in the set.. can you please take a screenshot in eich I can see the icons that are not changed? So it will be simpler drawing proper icons..
