to be more precise. You can disable the rubberband effect and the new konqueror sidebar style.

Any doubts mail me
cheers
Andrunko - Dec 14 2004
You can disable almost all the settings!! Take a look at the README file.

cheers
Andrunko - Dec 14 2004
i will take a look at this

cheers - Nov 29 2004
Everything you said is already optional!! To use the new sidebar you should enable it (not default). The rubberband can be disabled too. See the README file. Any doubt mail me.

cheers
Andrunko - Nov 29 2004
See the INSTALL file found in the package.

cheers - Nov 28 2004
All of you that are having this problem with the rubberband. Probably you had a problem with your qt patches cause this bug only happens (in my box) when i forget to compile the qt with the patches. The iconview rubberband code and the listview code are almost the same and if one works the other should work too. The only difference is that one is a qt patch and other is a konqueror patch.
Any doubt mail me and i will try to help you. Anyway the rubberband has a problem that i will try to fix, buf for sure this is not the case.

Probably you had some problems applying the patches. If you want to contact me by mail, i will try to help you.

Andrunko - Nov 09 2004
When i have some time i will try to write a install guide. Probably in the next release.

thanks for the feedback.

Hi all.

I would like to say all of you that are waiting for another release that i didn't release a new version yet cause i'm travelling (work) and as soon as i can i will try to do it. Sorry for the delay.

cheers
Andrunko - Nov 09 2004
thanks.

;-) - Oct 31 2004
the next version i will add install intructions.

cheers - Oct 31 2004
the files are patches that need to be applied to the sources of kde/qt.

cheers
Andrunko - Oct 31 2004
I did some changes in iconview to improve the performance. I believe that can be improved a little but is much better than the old versions.

cheers
Andrunko - Oct 31 2004
thanks, i will see what i can do.

cheers - Oct 28 2004
seems that something went wrong when you applied the patches.

which version of kdebase are you using?

cheers - Oct 27 2004
thanks for the feedback.

i just got a kde CVS account, now probably some of the changes will be in kde 3.4.

cheers
Andrunko - Oct 27 2004
if you don't like the rubberband performance you can disable it and use the old one. go to Control Center/Appearance/Styles and disable it. - Oct 27 2004
good idea. i will try to do this.
about the change from -p1 to -p0, this was done some time ago.

cheers - Oct 26 2004
your problem seems to be with the file move_konqsidebartng_entries.sh. check if you have this file in kdebase/konqueror/sidebar. if not mail me and i will help you.

cheers
Andrunko - Oct 26 2004
i believe your problem is not the patches because the qt patch is the same since version 4.0. the only difference in this version is that there is no more a patch for qlistview and designer, and i'm almost sure that this is not your problem. i never did anything related to opengl.

cheers - Oct 26 2004
i'm working on this. i believe that at least some of them will be in kde CVS soon.

cheers - Oct 26 2004
soon i will separate the patches by category, so will be easiest to apply just the patch you want.

cheers - Oct 26 2004
because the kdebase patch changes the file konqueror/sidebar/Makefile.am (in order to install the kconf_update scripts) you need to recreate your makefile templates. it seems that your automake version is diferent from the version that was used to create the templates.
If you are compiling from CVS just do a "make -f Makefile.cvs" again and rerun the configure script,

If not this is a problem since i figure out that the some Makefile.am templates that come with kdebase-3.3.1 official sources are not correct, so the easiest way to fix this is unpacking your kdebase source again (in a different directory) and copy the Makefile.am/in to the new one.

cp -pf kdebase-3.3.1.orig/konqueror/sidebar/Makefile.*
kdebase-3.3.1/konqueror/sidebar/
note the -p option is necessary.

if you use the second way don't forget to copy the kconf_update scripts manually after a make install,.
cp kdebase-3.3.1/konqueror/sidebar/konqsidebartng.upd
$(kde-config --prefix)/share/apps/kconf_update

cp kdebase-3.3.1/konqueror/sidebar/move_konqsidebartng_entries.sh
$(kde-config --prefix)/share/apps/kconf_update

any doubt mail me.

cheers - Oct 26 2004
i don't why this happens with you but the line 4588 of the file iconview/qiconview.cpp is wrong. Change repaiintContents with repaintContents and try again.

the patches are right, i have just check them out.
try unpacking the sources and applying the patches again.

cheers - Oct 25 2004
i will try to draw the background in all the line and see how it stays.

cheers - Oct 25 2004
- Do you mean, that the light blue lines should not be there at all except for the first column (name), so that on the other columns (date, size, owner...) every line is white?
The opposite. in the first column all the lines background is white, and in the other ones the background is alternated. - Oct 25 2004
i was thinking about this and i believe that if there is more than one column, the property allColumnsShowFocus is FALSE and the property alternateBackground is set, then the items background are draw only after the second column.

what you think about?

cheers - Oct 25 2004
sorry i can see now.

Yeah this is not a bug, this is the intention. I could fix this, but i don't know if it would be better?
Someone else could comment on this.

cheers
Andrunko - Oct 25 2004
I didn't undertand what you're talking about. can you explain this better please??

cheers
Andrunko - Oct 25 2004
no this isn't possible, but you can use the old sidebar style if you want

cheers
Andrunko - Oct 24 2004
using source rpms should not be so easy if you want to use rpm to build them:
eg.: rpm -ba

if you want to use this method, you should install the rpm sources and go to directory were the specs are located (i believe /usr/src/rpm/SPECS) and change the specs to use the patches, if you know how to do. copy the patches to /usr/src/rpm/SOURCES and rebuild the rpms

this is not as easy as i explained but if you want to try.

i would say you to download the sources from kde.org and recompile them. it's easiest them use source rpms.
just decompress the sources downloaded from kde.org, go to directory created and patch -p0 < name_of_the_package_you_are_patching-3.3.1.diff
and them recompile the package,

sorry if i didn't explain very well.

cheers
Andrunko - Oct 24 2004
you need to apply the patches in kde sources and recompile them.

cheers - Oct 24 2004
good idea, but it's still just for konqueror.

cheers - Oct 24 2004
just bugfixes because of the patch for bug 88964.

cheers - Oct 23 2004
use patch -p0

cheers - Oct 22 2004
Good idea. I will try this, but i don't know when, since i don't have enough time.

cheers - Oct 21 2004
i really don't know the diferences of the ebuilds. I think you should use the more updated, if thats is the case.

cheers - Oct 21 2004
i really don't know what is the problem that is happening with you.

try restart the sidebar to default state:
rm -rf $HOME.kde/share/apps/konqsidebartng
rm -f $HOME.kde/share/config/konqsidebartng*

cheers - Oct 21 2004
rm -f $HOME/.kde/share/config/konqsidebartng.rc
run konqueror filemanagement
run konqueror browser
now open the file $HOME/.kde/share/config/konqsidebartng.rc
and change or add a key SidebarStyle with value 1 where appopriate.
Soon i will add a menu option to change the current sidebar style.

look at my konqsidebartng.rc:

[filemanagement]
HideTabs=false
OpenViews=home.desktop
SavedWidth=227
ShowExtraButtons=true
ShowHeader=true
ShowTabsLeft=true
SidebarStyle=1
SingleWidgetMode=true

[webbrowsing]
HideTabs=false
OpenViews=bookmarks.desktop
SavedWidth=249
ShowExtraButtons=true
ShowHeader=true
ShowTabsLeft=true
SidebarStyle=1
SingleWidgetMode=true - Oct 21 2004
thanks for the feedback. I just want to bring you the best kde you have ever seen.

I don't know if the bug you mentioned still exists. I'm at work now and can't verify this. But anyway if it still exists, i'll try to fix it.

cheers
Andrunko - Oct 21 2004
about the rubberband, try the latest version, i don't know, but here there is no problem.

And about the rounded selections i'll try to implement it.

cheers
Andrunko - Oct 21 2004
i don't know what is happening but try to remove your old configuration files and try again.
rm -rf $HOME/.kde/share/apps/konqsidebartng/

cheers. - Oct 18 2004
Yes. You can enable or disable the new sidebar look. Give a look at the README file found in the package.

cheers - Oct 18 2004
you need to download the kde source packages and apply the patches:
cd kdepackage_source_dir
patch -p0 < kdepackage.diff
and recompile kde.

do this with qt too

cheers - Oct 18 2004
try to use the latest version.

thanx
Andrunko - Oct 18 2004
thanks for the feedback. I'm doing my best.
And i really don't believe that these changes can be in next kde release, but... who knows

cheers,
Andrunko - Oct 18 2004
I could do this, but i really don't have enough time to do. I don't have time not even to fix the bugs. My work is taking all my time. Anyway i will do my best to do this.

cheers - Oct 16 2004
yes the bug exists. And it's not only in kmail.

I'm looking for a solution, but seems to be not so simple.

cheers - Oct 15 2004
;) - Oct 15 2004
Since i'm getting bug reports that are not happening on my machine, i decided to start compiling everything from scratch.
Actually i'm using the debian source packages and i'm going to use after now the official kde-3.3.1 packages. This may delay the next release a little, but i'll do my best to fix the bugs as fast as i can.
