I've been having trouble getting this to compile..the configure script is telling me that it "cannot run C compiled programs". I'm running Slackware 8 and the 2.4.10 kernel, and have gcc v2.95.3. Any suggestions? - Oct 09 2001

I kinda like it. I don't care where those icons came from... if you own one or more PCs, you've paid one too many times for Windows, and it is time we start taking back what we paid for (fonts, backgrounds, sounds, etc...). If you don't like it, don't download it! - Oct 09 2001

Who cares if it's misappropriation. Did anyone whine when Win95 came out and it was a blatant rip-off of MacOS? And I mean BLATANT.

I personally don't want my machine to look like winblowz because Linux is sexier than that, but kudos to the developer who worked on this. And I dig the idea of sneaking Linux in on an unsuspecting "future convert." Who says Linux is hard? - Oct 09 2001

I think it's just what you need every time you need to convert a windows-user to linux-Kde. I know, this is miss-apropiated stuff, but at least new linux users will not call me up 5 minutes asking "where's the Explorer (aka Konqueror) icon place ?". IMHO, this is great on big corporate places where learning curve may be a handycap to migrate to linux. - Oct 09 2001

I'm a small a fan of Microsoft as the rest of you, but however isn't this a gross misappropriation of copyrighted material? Things like this give credence to the opinion that "Free Software Advocates" == "Software Pirates". Plus - why the f*** would I want KDE to look like W2K? - Oct 09 2001
