GnoMenu Skins by zws 19 comments

I too love it. I voted good because it really is. It is still too wide for my taste though. Maybe you could make the icons a bit smaller to try to make it narrower? - Jan 05 2009
GnoMenu - consolidated menu for gnome

Various Gnome Stuff by Whise 146 comments

Try deleting the file .GnoMenuSettings.xml that is in your home directory. It is a hidden file so you need to ctrl-H in nautilus to see it. (if using Ubuntu)

Then reload the menu to the panel and try to configure it to your likings once again. - Dec 04 2008
GnoMenu - consolidated menu for gnome

Various Gnome Stuff by Whise 146 comments

Hi,
Is 1.7 stable enough to checkout from source and install?

Thanks - Nov 26 2008
Hi Whise,
This menu is really moving along real nice now. Thanks for taking on the project. I have one request though. Is it possible to make the menu open from the main selection page, and not from where you last navigated to? I find myself having to "back" my way to the top each time I open the menu.

Thanks. - Nov 19 2008
The settings are saved as a hidden file in your home directory. .GnoMenuSettings.xml

If you change the power button there it will work. Also when you change menu styles it overwrites this file, so your first file edit is needed too. - Nov 18 2008
Works like a charm. Thanks for the fast response to a feature request. - Nov 14 2008
You are correct.....of course you are.

I used the settings from the Vista version because I have no nm-connection-manager on my system. I am using WICD and have not figured out how to get the gui from the commandline yet.

Can you make the menu "close" by clicking the button? Only the state of the button changes, but the menu is still open. - Nov 13 2008
When I select "connect to server" the network settings program opens but I cannot unlock or configure it. There are errors in the terminal output. By changing the command to:
<Command Action="Network Config" Exec="network-admin"/>

without the gksu command, it opens the network settings correctly. - Nov 13 2008
Solved OAFIID error (Ubuntu Hardy)

ctrl-alt-F2

/etc/init.d/gdm stop
sudo aptitude reinstall gnome-applets
/etc/init.d/gdm start - Nov 13 2008
Try make uninstall. According to the makefile there is an uninstall option

Makefile: Available actions: install, uninstall - Nov 13 2008
Thanks, will give it a test now. I have a couple other issues here: one is that clicking the button opens the menu, a second click does not close it. I have to click on a window to close the menu. Another is I get an OAFIID error on boot and have to delete config data and place it on the panel again. Also not a bug but a feature request to get the menu working on the windows (Super L) key.

Thanks,
Brian - Nov 13 2008

The install on ubuntu hardy went just fine. Adding to panel and most operations of the menu are working. I cannot configure it though. If I click preferences, a window pops up for a split second titled menu settings, then dies. Also what does the button next to the logout lock do.

Thanks for the update, I am sure we can get this sorted out.

Vista Start Menu for Gnome Panel

Various Gnome Stuff by qb89dragon 381 comments

Looks good. I would love to try a new version as I am having problems with the current. I have to add it to the panel after every reboot because of an OAFIID:GNOME error. After I delete the configuration from the error box, I can add it manually just fine. Also have problems with it wanting to place the orb top at the top of the screen sometimes. Glad to see the project is not dead.
