How did you get the effect in your second screenshot?

It seems that the background window become darker or transparent. Also all your windows have shadows. How did you do that?

Awesome style! - Mar 18 2006

I installed nvidia-1.0a-3.2.0 and it worked fine. Everytime I do a make install on the kwin-decor-blueice files it overwrites the nvidia theme and the list of window decorations doesn't have nVidia in it anymore. Instead there's Blueice 2 or 3 depending on which one I installed. If I to choose a blueice decration it doesn't work. I get a regular Keramik decoration loaded instead.

I also get no preview, instead there's an error message saying that the module wasn't loaded successfully.

Any ideas? - Jun 08 2004

I'm having this strange problem that I have to kill -9 superkaramba and restart it everyday just because the Liquid Weather theme seems to freeze. I read a few posts ago that it might be a threading problem. Is that fixed yet or not?

One thing I noticed is that if I'm running multiple themes inside one instance of superkaramba and this happens only the Liquid Weather theme freezes. The other themes keep working fine.

Hope this helps. Sorry I can't provide any more info.

Great theme though. It's my favorite ;) - Mar 06 2004
I saw the same crash you guys are experiencing on the first upday. I'm running a single superkaramba process with only one theme (your theme).

I'm using Gentoo, and my officemate who uses the same distro and hardware as I do gets it to crash when he moves the window around with the mouse.

From what I've seen I don't think these crashes are due to the number of themes running on superkaramba. It's probably the python script....I think.

Hope this helps.

Ok, most probably your karamba theme is NOT locked. You have to lock it in place. You can do that by right clicking the snowbar and choosing "Toggle Locked Position". That should fix it. - Jan 14 2004 previous post was "supposed" to be here...

The theme is supposed to work with a single click. Do you have to double-click the icons to get them to work? - Jan 07 2004
Thanks -_^ - Jan 07 2004
Yeah I agree, that would actually be better. I just did this as a proof of concept. The icons can be changed easily, it just requires time that I don't have right now. As soon as I have time I'll make a more linux friendly panel. has some nice linux icons if you're interested.

Thanks for the comment. -_^ - Dec 23 2003

I would if I could. The only problem is, the original wallpaper that I got from deviantart was already in this quality. I'll try to find it at a higher quality, and if I'm successful, then I'll make the same changes to it and repost.

Thanks for the comment. - Jan 07 2004

I found the image as a .jpg on some website. You ban always use gimp to convert it to the format you're most comfortable with.

There's also a limit of about 700K for files here so sometimes I can't submit the things I want in .png.

Sorry for the inconvenience. - Dec 27 2003

Right. Well, like I said, this theme is very easy to alter. The most common resolution is probably 1280x1024. So I'm going to create another snow panel for that resolution. And when the winter is over, I'll post a different one :).

Thanks for the suggestion. When you say it's too big though, do you mean the icon sizes or the width of the bar, or both? - Dec 25 2003
I got this wallpaper from I made some changes to it though. I added the bugs and the green leaf at the top right myself. I can post it here as a wallapaper if you like. Let me know.

And thanks for the comment. - Dec 24 2003
Yeah, this theme is created for 1600x1200 desktops only. If you want to shrink it you'd have to play with the theme file.

I'm thinking of adding a UI to it where you can provide your desktop resolution, and which icons you want on the bar and then it would create a best fit bar to suite your preferences. - Dec 24 2003
That's odd. There is no python file being used for this theme. What version of superkaramba are you using?

For me this theme runs on karamba 0,16 and superkaramba 0.32

The theme is too simple though so I really think it should run on all versions of both karamba and superkaramba. - Dec 24 2003

You can do it with your version of slicker as well. You just need to move your cursor to the right place (or pixel to be exact). Yes, that's right, it's actually one pixel which you have to be on. It's right on the border between the tab which has the slicker card's caption (title) and the border of the window itself.

Also your card must be opened before you attempt that. It's hard but keep moving your mouse cursor in that vicinity a few times and you'll notice the pointer changing to a resize pointer ().

Good luck ;) - May 04 2003
I'm running regular KDE 3.0.

Actually my panel is a karamba theme. That's why it's transparent. - May 03 2003

Here it is and sorry for the delayed reply.... - Apr 30 2003
Sorry for the late reply. The way I got gkrellm to be transparent was to use the "invisible theme" that you can get in an RPM.

I have found that it doesn't wory very well though with KDE. Sometimes the transparent border becomes white. So for my second screenshot I made the border the same color as the background. - Apr 30 2003
The way I did it was with Eterm, so I had to install the RPM for it first since it doesn't come with KDE. The pros are that Eterm handles transparent windows "much" faster than Konsole. So you can move the window and watch your background being smoothly updated on to create a more realistic effect of transparency.

You can run Eterm with some commandline parameters that do mostly everything. The man pages are quite detailed so you won't have any problems figuring it out pretty fast. - Mar 04 2003
I used Eterm. With Eterm you also have the flexibility to do a lot of things. - Mar 04 2003

It's pretty easy, all you need to do is install Eterm. I'm using version Eterm-0.9.2-1.i386.rpm. Afterwards you invoke it with a bunch of command line paramters to remove the menubar, scrollbars, and caption. You also include the X,Y coordinates of where the window should appear along with the height and width of the console window. All this should be easy to find in Eterm's man pages.

This is the command I use to invoke Eterm:
Eterm --shade -1 --double-buffer -c yellow -f white --buttonbar 0 --scrollbar 0 --geometry 50x30+0+
100 -x
