Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by blurymind 32 comments

This kcontrol module is supposed to manage the service menus only...e.g. the right-click>Actions>Menus.

I believe that there was a service menu for amarok...hmm..

Your suggestion is really good and deserves some attention, but I think it is more fitting for the "file associations" module. - Apr 28 2006

thanks for this wonderful theme!
It actually works without using a crons daemon (unlike some other themes for this)

The ultimate theme would be the one that gives me the choice what website to fetch the thumbs/links from.

also you can add the choice how many thumbs to show (4 is just too many) - Apr 15 2006

Kim (Kde Image Menu)

Graphic Apps by cbouveyron 198 comments

thats kim is cluttered/bloated:

well, the useless to the certain user features can be excluded by hand(by removing some of the scripts in the /konq/services folder...or so i think)...but i think that its kind of a pain to open konq as root and go and do it by hand..also it should have been great if a certain service menu could be installed only for one user, not for everybody (not everybody uses kim).

I think that nothing is to be removed from kim, because every feature it has is just great. One remark to be made is for its installer (install.sh) which gives you 3 options and it doesnt work on a slackware distro.I think that more work can be done in the install script.
It will be great if the user could just choose which features to be installed with checkboxes. :) - Apr 08 2006

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by blurymind 32 comments

thanks.
You pointed out your opinion very carefully and precisely.I didnt want it to sound like you were trolling or something. You are absolutelly right.
Kim has many many features, but most users use one half of the features or the other half are used by other users. Its the same with many other service menus that have many helpfull functions, but they might also create a clutter.I used kim as an example.

I think that it will be great to manage them and exclude the ones that r not needed.
It gave me an idea as to how this idea would be helpfull in more ways.
Yes,you are absolutelly right about the clutter :)

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by blurymind 13 comments

... make small operations (such as resizing images and compressing them, making them ready for internet publication)alot easier and faster.
All it uses for that is imagemagik.

You can have mpeg tools too for making mpg mives, you can have all the edvance options it has for bublication too...you can have all that.
That is why i suggested a kcontrol option for enabling and disabling ACTIONS for different file types. This way, service menus would be installed easier (if that control center window has that function too,it would be nice) aand maybe you will have the option to choose which actions that KIM is capable of is shown in your right click menu when you choose a jpg file... - Apr 05 2006

it just coppies a bunch of files and puts a ~ at the end of two files. It is very simple.I dont see how it can be made better. No idea why it didnt work here.I suggest that you inslude a HowTo to kims readme file that has a 'How to install kim by hand if the install script doesnt work'(I can write one if you want to (?) - Apr 02 2006

vector Linux - Vasm

Wallpaper Other by blurymind 5 comments

yah, both r based on slackware.I have a Zenwalk machine - a laptop, which uses the shared internet by my main (Vector) machine.
The only differences that I noticed were:
1.vector soho comes with a fairly new kde and you can install the latest kde on it.
2.Vector booted faster into gui
3.Zenwalk had a gui package management tool, called netpkg, which basically does what gslapt does, but it lacks a search function and you have to scroll down untill you find what you need, not to mention that the package list doesnt come out alphabetically arranged. You can install gslapt on it too,but i couldnt find any way to add zenwalk's official repository to slapt-get's list.
4.zenwalk's kde didnt have a first time configuration dialog, instead it came with a bunch of default zenwalk-ish settings for kde.

but yeah, both systems function pretty well...but zenwalk doesnt have a nice system tool such as VASM. ;) - Mar 30 2006

This icon theme is really excellent, but you must really compress the images!
Its causing kde to slow down and crush here. Its too damn big in a tar.gz...when opened its twice bigger.

why dont you put KIM on your computer and compress this theme? - Feb 24 2006
