Well,I changed my description,so it does not confuse people.

All ubuntu lovers out there must hate me by now.Dont forget That I was One Of you months ago.Thats untill upgrading glibc6 totally borked my system and I was using the official repo. ;) That all happened just to get a 500kb package of another app. - Jan 29 2006
No dependency hell 1

Wallpaper Other by blurymind 11 comments

Ofcourse that it has dependencies,silly.
My point was not that it does not have dependencies.
My point was about binary packages and repositories.
Rpm and Deb packages cannot ignore version dependencies.Never.That is what made me mad when using debian or fedora. You need to have package version 1.25,but you have package version 1.24 and that is why you cannot install a simple small app that hardly uses the package.

Dependencies cannot be ignored with apt,so you have to google for the damn package and this makes me mad, because you dont have a choice. You need to fetch 100mb of useless data to upgrade 0.89 to 0.90 and that all just to get a small package ( 1mb )installed. - Jan 29 2006

Hi,thanks for the fast reply. Here is why vector is better than kubuntu or any other debian based distro:

1.Its faster (alot faster ) on booting time.(sick of waitng for hotplug?)

2.You have the easy updates too.Vector hast apt-like package tool, called slapt-get which can ignore dependancies in packages you select (unlike atp-get),with the official vector repo (where dependancies are tracked, but you CAN ignore them) plus the enourmous linuxpackages.net repo (vect soho 5.1 is compatitable with slack 10 and 10.1/2 packages)
3.You will be able to compile almost any package from source (configure>make>make install) without errors..
4.You have VASM -this is a graphical user interface system tool with which you can configure everything on your computer:Hardware, filesystem or partitions, xwindow, users, boot procedures,Network, you can even make it autosetup everything.
I found this tool to be extremely good, because it has no-gui failsafe mode and if you had made a big mess with this tool and midninght comander you can fix it.
5.If you want to have kde, install Vector SOHO,which is for you.The standart version is good too,but its with xfce as default and its made mainly for old hardware (speed, get it?)lol
...the instalation looks alot like

I was going to compile a package of this new version and upload it to the repo, but when I saw that there isnt the Seacrh function anymore,I decided to stick with the older version.

Are you going to remove the search tab for the final release?
Please, put it back there,it was one of the greatest highlights of this app!Do you know how hard it is to find such function for linux?

I liked all settings options in the search ability, but you could add the option to open search results with Opera or Firefox If you decide to put it right back for the next release.

Seriously,I stuck using your app only because of this function and you are removing it? - Jan 02 2006

haha,I am using slack based distro as root.I dont have sudo here.Only su.
Seems like some people are with (k)ubuntu here lol.//

Kim didnt want to install because it couldnt find kdeinstall directory.
In slack based distros kde is installed at /opt/kde
Thankfully the installation script was fairly simple and all it did was copying files.
I just started konqueror as root and I copied all teh files to the proper directories and gave them permisions to be readable for users/group.
Now kim works.I wonder how can I make a tgz package,so the next guy after me doesnt have to go through all the fuss lol.
Now kim works fine, but when i try to create an animated gif I get:cannot find Kim_multyburst.

Karamba & Superkaramba by jeanjan 10 comments

ok,I got it,the picture variables corespond by the name, which is the date 1 day ago or two days ago, etc.
This means that I will either have to find a website with such names for the pictures or change each of the variables in order to fit to a different server.
Maybe i am missing something.I saw the output of the script and I know that it basicaly downloads the pictures by their name to a .tmp subdirectory, then it changes their size and adds them to its dir (var/tmp/img_botd).

There are few different ways to edit this file,I am wondering which is best..

This is a fine piece of script.I think that if someone takes it and edits it,it will become a great karamba theme for collecting images from different websites.Only if i knew how to make a gui box for users to change the variables and the wget url adress...

Karamba & Superkaramba by jeanjan 10 comments

Hi,I would like to ask the creator of this,if its possible to make this theme work with other websites by editing the both.sh script file.
What do I have to change there in order to make it work with other server dir.
Obviously the wget adresses, maybe something at the picture variables?
var0=$(date +%m%d%y)
var1=$(date --date '1 day ago' +%m%d%y)
Is ¨date¨ coresponding to the date the jpg file was uploaded? And if so,if I leave it untouched, will it work with another server?

Hi,my name is theodore Imre.I really love this app and wanna thank the creator.I heard that Yogin was looking for a splash screen/logo/icon and I made few designs(another attempt!).I hope they are good enough.I made their bg transparent,so both can be tried for icons. It will be a great honor for me if this app uses these designs anyway.I release them under gpl,so the creator or anybody else who wants is free to edit them to look better.
Oh,btw, that dependancy problem is past now...here are two of the versions I made.If you like those,I will give links for the rest of the versions.
