GNOME-colors

Full Icon Themes by perfectska04 824 comments

First off, I love this theme... for the most part. The bold saturated colors with different folder icon colors is awesome!

The RB is unrecognizeable with a block and some fiery bars as either a music player or as rhythmbox.

VirtualBox blends in too much with the gnome-system-monitor.

This is trivial, but the top right corner using a clock seems silly. Not often does one need to click on the clock or interact in any way. I find it better to have the volume or trash icon up there. I often move to the top right and scroll up or down for volume control. - Jan 10 2006

It feels warm and friendly and professional at the same time. Any chance you could do some with different background colors?

Maybe an orange, blue, green. The white is just a little bright for myself.

I have to say, I miss the clean and crisp look of the 0.5 version's menu highlight and progress bar. The menu highlight just looks unpolished to me and I really miss the 0.5 version.

Great theme, I use it as my default (with humility icon set) and I really hope you reconsider these last design changes. - Nov 25 2005

Thanks for the quick update! I like the thunderbird icon, but I notice a red outline around the bottom 3 sides of the envelope again which looks a little out of place.

In terms of aesthetics, I have one further request. Could you add a little more orange + blue color to firefox/tbird. It looks funny that a lot of my panel apps are devoid of color and then there's amarok. It looks as though it's featured.

If you have the source .svgs, could you post those in a seperate download as well? I'd really like to check them out and make quickie changes like the red outline.

Thanks - Aug 07 2005

I love the new amarok icon. It looks a lot like my icon, but crystalized.

I have a little request for the thunderbird icon though. Could you make it similar to the firefox one you have but with the thunderbird?

If you like the generic mail icon, maybe you could fix the little red outline that is present on the bottom 3 sides. - Aug 07 2005

Ubuntu's new claws

Monotone may not be the right word. By monotone, I don't mean lack of color. I mean little variance in the color you pick. Like, if you decide on a brown "theme" it would be nice to tint everything that color.

Upon further investigation, I'm also thinking that the badger is cooler than initially thought. I know a brown tint to a badger is a bit weird, but it might be more usable.

Maybe even a couple color themes? Similar to some other wallpapers I've seen on gnome-look and kde-look? I think it's that good! - Apr 25 2005

Love it!

Simple and smooth like ubuntu. Good work. The Badger could be a bit more... rounded? or more monotone even?

Personally, I like wallpapers to have little color variance so that a transparent term on top is as readable as possible.

You may put it in your icons folder. It shouldn't matter. SVG's just scale well.

If you're putting it in a kde theme, you need to put it in the \scalable\apps\ folder as opposed to 64x64\apps or 128x128\apps, etc. - Mar 30 2005

First off, the set is amazing. I use it as my set. The one thing funny on my panel is the launcher for Thunderbird. I use evolution for work email and thunderbird for personal. The evolution icon is great, but I wanted to plead you to make a Thunderbird icon. :)

Again, great work! Really impressive. - Mar 01 2005

Cursors by an10ae 13 comments

Right on, didn't know kde was packaged differently. :) Turns out, they just get put in the .icons directory, which makes for trouble with cursors being shown as iconsets.

In any event, I have one look related item. What would you say to changing the waiting cursor to be slower in it's animation. (not sure if possible) Also, the arrow/waiting combo could put the tickmarks in a little rounded rectangular box more to the bottom right to be more consistent with other icons.

Hope that makes sense. ;) - Feb 23 2005

Cursors by an10ae 13 comments

I like the cursors a lot. I just started using them and didn't find any bugs yet, but I did want to note the packaging.

Think it could be done like this?
allthemes.tar.bz2
|-nouveau-black-smaller.tar.gz
|--nouveau-black-smaller/
|--nouveau-black-smaller/index.theme
|--etc.
|-nouveau-iron-smaller.tar.gz
|--nouveau-iron-smaller/
|--nouveau-iron-smaller/index.theme
|--etc.

That way, one could extract the big bz2 with all the themes inside, then just use gcursor to install the themes from their separate tarballs.

The way I did it now was to uncompress the big bz2 ball, then recompress the folders. (kind of a pain)

Cursors are great though. Keep up the good work! You're one of the few cursor creators here at gnomelook. :) - Feb 21 2005
