Since when does everyone on kde-look drink so much hater-aid? Furthermore, how can anybody get upset about what somebody else thinks in a fantasy world called the internet, which people only frequent because it eliminates identity from the existential dilemma faced by the rest of the normal populous? Wake up, open a window, take a deep breath, and think about how little space you occupy in an ever expansive universe. If it comes to it, we're going to have to have a lock in at the rec center. Don't think I won't do it, cause I will. - Sep 06 2006

sunbeam and moonshine

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by infinitezeros 29 comments

if nobody has told you yet (and maybe this problem is unintentional altogether) the sunbeam.desktop needs to be placed in /usr/share/apps/kicker/applets/ in order for it to be selectable from the "add applet to panel" menu. It didn't do this when I build a deb file or when I ran make install. BTW, I'll gladly make debs and rpms for everyone as soon as these programs start installing correctly. Nice program so far! You clearly have sqeezed a lot of functionality out already, so how about some useless eye candy? In the future you should add a configure menu and round the corners on it, add transparency options, animated hide/show, and allow for the side menus (favorites, etc.) to be resizable. I'm really interested in this project, looks awesome. I still haven't been able to get it to run from the "add applet to panel" menu. Anyone?

Taskbar v2

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by SirYaro 9 comments

If all you're doing is packaging software for a distro, I don't think he's threatening the the author of the code. Which by the way, isn't even maintaining the source code anymore, let alone binary files. If I write code that's gnu, I don't really care if someone packages it to be widely used by people who don't know how to compile it themselves. I highly doubt that the author of the code is worried about not gaining notariety through people dropping his name every time they decide to package his software. Which he isn't maintaining. Wait, didn't I already mention that? - Nov 28 2005

Superkaramba0.37-RC1 for (K)ubuntu

Karamba & Superkaramba by captainnico 8 comments

sounds like you have a file-type association problem. Instead of just clicking on the file, or trying to open it with kate, open up konsole, and change to the download directory and issue the command sudo dpkg -i *.deb. you can replace * with the full file name of the downloaded deb file. This is how you install deb files from the command line. Remember to be patient with linux, the best thing about it is that it only does what you want it to, and that's also the worst thing about it. It sounds like you're new, so enjoy the learning curve. Let me know if that didn't work. - Oct 17 2005
