SuperKaramba SuSE-8.2 RPM

Karamba & Superkaramba by DreamForce 3 comments

Open a console.

For superuser rights, with right to use graphics type:

sux
(password)

for install with force, cd to the dir with the superkaramba rpm and type:

rpm -i --force 7773-superkaramba-0.32-1.i386.rpm

that should be it. All of this can most likely also be done graphicly, but console is faster. - Feb 06 2004

Its funny how its always claimed that USSR wasnt socialism. But think about all the places socialism has been implementet (or attemted to be, as you claim), it has allways ended up in dictaturship, oppression and genicide. So this might not be socialism according to theory, but its socialism according to realism. The ideoligy has failed whereever it reared its ugly face. Have you ever considered that maybe the reason why socialism always fails is that it fails to understand that humans are gready ?? But still, its understandable that many user from this site is attracted to socialism. As i understand most users here are german, and a new wave of anti-americanism is washing over that country so its understandable that young people who cant remember the cold war think that socialism is the answer...usually it fades when they grow up. - Oct 10 2003
SlickBar for SuperKaramba

With the new version, even more packages join the list of packages needed. Are you planning to realease a speciel "slicker-linux" distro ?? or maybe selling a CD with the ekstra packages needed for this to run ?? Honestly,is it really nescecary for a config gui to use some strange python module when u have karamba at your disposal??? Dont get me wrong, im not trying to flame you, but i think youre making this far more complicated then you have to. - Sep 08 2003

No matter what you set your "DockOpacity" to, everytime KDE starts, and the docker starts along with it, the background is black. If you exit and start the docker again background is set accourding to ones settings.

Please fix. - Sep 02 2003

I have edited it to use xmms now, and basicly all you have to do is change sensors=noatun to sensors=xmms and then also the onclick events. One word of advice is: Dont try with superkaramba v.29...i did and for some reason xmms sensor doesnt work at all...used a few hours figuring out what was wrong, until i updated to v.30...now it works. - Sep 01 2003

Same here. You have to make a XMMS version. I dont even know anyone using noatun. - Aug 31 2003

I second that. I now have it completely working....now some 2-3 hours after downloading it. Had i been more of a newbie i would have given up long ago. Work has to be made to make things work without all those packages.

Other than that, it looks great. - Aug 30 2003
SuperKaramba Glas-Bar

Karamba & Superkaramba by GeniusR13 7 comments

#this is called everytime your widget is updated
#the update inverval is specified in the .theme file

So it says in your script, but where in the theme file do i specify it ?? The update is to damn slow for my taste. I really like the way it looks, only thing i needs is the same as all karamba/superkarambas out there: functionalety, but im sure as the s-karamba API matures it will come.

Suggestions:

make it possible to remove that pager section...i think theres a lot of us out there that only use 1 desktop. Also instead of only running kmix if its already active, then just make it a button that launches kmix.

Also, the spot where CPU load etc. gets measured looks like a great spot for a future system tray.

Yet another one, the taskbar writing doesent look to...test with other fonts.

Other then that, its a killer bar!! - May 25 2003
MacOSX Docker

Karamba & Superkaramba by genneth 62 comments

When you minimize a window, it turns up as its supposed on the taskbar, but if you go on and terminate the window, the bar "narrows" back in to correct size, after which the background nodges back one more jump leaving the background move one nodge to far to the right.

i can get a screenshot of it, if youre not sure what i mean. - May 15 2003
RoundBar for SuperKaramba

Karamba & Superkaramba by ZIOlele 57 comments

I got the same "multi-bar" when i changed the value to 0. The thing I did was to out-comment (#) line nr. 210 in the RoundBar.py file. its the line with "PagerCreate(widget)" (just in case i moved some lines). add a "#" in front of it and it wont be created. The problem now is that it leaves an emply slot with no icon. I dont know how to remove that, but i simply moved it to the end position before the clock. This way you get a nice blank spot between your last icon and the clock. You can move the pager/blank spot at line 28 (PagerPos = "insert position here"), that linie actually works unlike the one above... (PagerYes=x). - May 01 2003
RoundBar for SuperKaramba

Karamba & Superkaramba by ZIOlele 57 comments

I love the look of this sucker, and its on my desktop now. One thing i dont like is that it seems impossible to remove that "chose desktop" thing (the one with the 4 desktops) i think its called pager or something like that. I tried changing the variable "PagerYes" to 0, but it doesnt change anything. Any ideas how to remove it??

Also i suggest you add more comments to your python code. This makes it much easyer to modify it to fit your own desktop. I know the code might be simple, but i dont know any python, i only know java, so i can pretty much understand all the code, but its still hard to know what relates to what. Took me ages to edit the way the clock shows time.

Other than that, it looks great! - Apr 28 2003

To make karamba more usefull i would be nice to have a feature for disk drives. this feature should enable the usual mount/unmount eject and so forth, and should be accessible by a right click on the icon. Dont know if its possible, but it would make karamba close to perfect. Also when clicking the "start menu" icon it would be nice if it could behave like it does in the kicker bar. - Apr 20 2003

1. I will repeat the fact that the NATO intervention in kosovo was not UN sactioned, but still needed and it succeded, didnt it ??

2.Should we wait untill he/they do ?? US cant prove anything ?? Neither can Saddam prove the opposit, but ofcourse you give him the benefit of the doubt.

3.The US support for Iraq was done in the light of the US Iran conflict. Should support in the past give a country a carte blank in respects to its behavior ?? "Support them once, support them allways " is that your logic ?

4. Yes US aided afghanistan against Soviet, and soviet aided vietnam i that war...it was the cold war, remember?? Battles were fought in the 3rd world. Fair ? no, but again who could know they would turn against their former allies ?? No one can predict the future.

5. Blaim the turkish government. not the US. How far would US get by saying no to all turkish demands ?

6. Let me get this straight. Going against US shows backbone, and agreeing shows your an idiot....okay, but if "everyone" as u claim is against america, isnt schröder just going with the flow ?? Also i doubt that any country calculates that war brings profit...

so to you "anonymous"..maybe you shouldnt be a dumbass and fall for anti-american propaganda. But in short, what you want is that Iraq be left alone, the sanctions removed. Saddam can rearm, and realize hes dream of leading an arab nation. Never mind that it will cost lifes..its okay, he's not american, and therefore we wount blaim him...its not hip.

Responses to this psot is welcomed, but I wont answer more. As so many points out, this is not the forum for it. I know i started it. and it was wrong, and therefore i stop now. - Feb 27 2003

The UN is a useless debate club. NATO went in to Kosovo WITHOUT the UN, and arent we all glad today that they did ????

The Germans say no to the US simply because Gerhard Scröder needs votes desperatly and the best way to appeal to his former red voters, and the best way to appeal to his parlementary support (the green party) is to oppose the US no matter what...

Russia oppose because they have financial agreements with the baath parti to develop new oil wels in iraq...France...well, they miss the days of Napoleon. They dream of being a big power again...as for China, well any chance to go agains t the kapitalist america is used. - Feb 27 2003

tell the so-called peace movement to think for them selves. Bush is no eangel...i dont defend him. Sometimes u have to ally with deamons the defeat the devil. Civilians will die in a war, but how many havent allready died by saddams hand ?? and how many will die if we let him be ??? - Feb 26 2003
