that *bright halo" under the active window, maybe coupled with dark halo under the unfcused ones, is perhaps the most useful and beautiful effect I've seen in an UI *ever* - Sep 19 2006

I can confirm that, both on my desktop ad laptop (both featuring your GREAT 1.1 style) the problem with OO scrollbars happens *only* with arrowless scrollbars selected.
Any other scrollbar style (KDE for example) in Serenity brings no problems at all in OO.

I'll try to file a OO bug anyway.

Thanks for 1.1 ! - Aug 23 2006
Great job with 1.0 !

Today I noticed that with the arrowless (beautiful) scrollbars, openoffice has problems in showing 'em.

Can't wait for a fix :-)

By the way, is it planned to introduce a flat progressbar ? - Aug 18 2006
about menus : you mean a new version is on the way ? nice !

about tabs : AMAZING result, exactly what I intended ! I can't wait to get my hands on this eheh

Great work, really - Jul 03 2006
Hei, great work ! I'm liking it a lot.
There are a few drawbacks that stops me to make of this my default style:

- when I click on a menu item (file, edit, view...) to open it, then I can't CLOSE it by clicking on it again. It's tricky to have to press elsewhere to get rid of the menu.

- The menu background color is the button's one. Shouldn't be better if it uses the window background color instead ?

- The active tab color: is there a way to change its color ? I'd like to have it of the same color as standard background (the same used for tabs content) and with no line to separate the tab from its contents. I'll try to make a sort of mockup ^^ - Jul 02 2006

Nice. But for graphic I would prefer something closer to kde4 mockups instead of windows baloons or kde 3.5 boxes.

Look at kdeartists for some idea :-) - Oct 06 2005

your work is simply wonderful ! I think this style is the only that can compete with nuoveXT. Anyway I've to agree... at smaller sizes they become confused. Maybe need to be more sketched.

Looking forward for it ! - Oct 05 2005

I like the 2nd (without the kde logo between files and tree view, less buttons on toolbar and less informations on the statusbar). And I really don't care if it resembles slightly MS Vista.

I was thinking... may a slight difference in the color tint of each window's statusbar help to identify windows even without checking it's content ? - Aug 29 2005
I only partially agree.

Surely side tabs have to go away. A more vertical layout, yet not innovative, still be the most natural (and better for 4:3 screens).

About innovations and Vista clones... well, tree sidebars are even less innovation, but they're good to use, then still there. I'd really prefer a Vista-like upper and lower bars than a sub-icons system.
When I moved from gnome to kde, my wife got scared simply by the meny "copy here, move here, ..." she got prompted when dragged a file to a folder. And she's right! Better having common tasks and infos just in sight. Vista do it very well.

Summarizing, imho I don't care who arrived first. Convenience must be first, innovation just after that.

And, maybe, in their next beta that will not be there any longer :D - Aug 29 2005
I like the 2nd.
I'd REALLY love this without the K logo between files and tree view (which I like on the right AND with that search).

Also I think that many of standard toolbuttons are unnecessary. Who needs more than prev, next, up, update ?
Nobody really *prints* from a file manager, I suppose. So, in place of "Open location" I'd put a placebar like the new gnome's one.

I was also wondering... that color used for the lower metabar... wouldn't be nice if EVERY window has an unique, little different color tone ? That may help to identify a window without looking to it's content. - Aug 29 2005

I was considering that also a slight color difference in active tabs could help - Aug 24 2005
Seems nice, but looking to the screenshots seems that labels are in a different color from the rest of notebook (too much blue ?)

I also don't like too much these horizontal lines separing menubar from toolbar.

Your style is really nice, not so fancy as Keramik but spicy enough, still being almost flat and clean.

Looking forward to your work, hoping those horiz bars go away :D - Aug 24 2005
