Ok. There are many other iconsets here in gnome-look :)
You are free to choose the one you like most, and perhaps change it when you're bored.

But writing "your icons are ugly" is not a good advice, IMHO.
Try to explain why they're so ugly for you, so I can try to improve my work to make it better.

I don'use emerald. The one you see in the screenshot is the DustTheme one.
And my conky.. it depends on your hardware configuration and the packages you have installed.
First be sure to have lmsensors installed and configured, then also hddtemp.

I replaced the previous amule icon with the one you suggested.
You can see the result here: http://img382.imageshack.us/img382/5382/amuleki8.png
The left one is your suggested icon, the right one is the actual hydroxygen icon.

As I thought, it still seems to be out of focus.

I looked within my iconset, but I didn't find that icon-theme.cache.
The newest version of hydroxygen is only 27MB, so I exlude it could contain a 100MB+ cache file.
Within the previous ones [1.0.3 and previous] I didn't find the file you are talking about.

I have seen many of your Royal Icons are the same I have just seen in Oxygen-Refit.

I try to make a list:

- amsn
- amule
- anjuta*
- arson
- audacious
- audacity
- avidemux
- baobab
- bittorrent*
- bitwash*
- blender
- bluetooth
- bmp
- brasero
- briquolo
- bug-buddy
- burn
- camorama
- cinelerra
- devede
- disk manager

and many many others...

*Icons marked with * are desaturated from colour to grey.

Now there's one final question: didn't you were drawing your iconset icon per icon?
You are not a collector, isn't it? - Sep 18 2008
deviant desktop [sept. 08]

Gnome Screenshots by deviantdark 38 comments

Let's start with the answer to Q1.
It's a matter of AWN settings.
I just put the mark on "tasks have arrows" within the Task Appearance tab.
Then, still within that tab, I gave the arrows the blue color you see within the scrrenshot.
Then, at last, I set the arrow offset to zero [making the arrows being locked to the bottom].

Now let's go on with Q2..
First of all, I have compiz effects enabled.
I don't think there is a way to get this result with metacity.
Well, now there's only an how-to.
Open your CompizConfig Settings Manager, then go to General Options > Opacity Settings.
Within the "Window Opacity" section, click on "New", then type near Opacity Window:

(type=Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu)

In the Opacity Window Values bar I set 80 percent to get the result you see in the screenshot.

You wrote:

"I begin it without knowing nothing about this situations, only for fun and because I like paint and drawing. Now I want use it like a reference for a possible future Job in a Designer Role."

Well... you can.
I cannot.
This seems to be a clear difference. You made your own work. I just made a collection [and a 3% of my own work, "free of charge"].

"What gnomeingo wrote about svg and scaling complex icons makes sense. Good scaling is a kind of artwork too ... you know"

Oh yes, I perfectly know.
But let me explain why I am a collector and not an artist like you...

I began trying to create a modification of an iconset [Oxygen-Refit, you know], just to use it for myself, not sharing with the web.
I placed some screenshots of my desktop within some forums, and everyone started asking where did I find that iconset.
Then I asked nanolx.org if I'd ever could release his Oxygen-Refit iconset with my own modifications [you'd have seen.. the Oxygen in different colours], and he agreed.
Now Hydroxygen is the same thing: Oxygen-Refit with some different icons.
Some of them are the ones I created, and some other are icons I've found around the web.

I don't think I'd ever could be blamed for my iconsets.
I know, drawing a complete iconset is very harder than collecting it.
But maybe you can purpose to the gnome-look admins to separate in two different categories the submissions... by one side the original artwork, and by the other side the collectors' ones. - Sep 18 2008

The wallpaper I use is and edited copy of Pepper-Project.
I made it widescreen with the GIMP and I removed that ugly tattoo on the girl's shoulder.

I am sure I cannot release the wallpaper as MY OWN creation, but I can simply link the edited version I made.
And please don't share it as YOUR OWN creation.

The download link are this ones, the first without the bottom bar, the second one is the one I am using:

I took the most of the icons within this iconset from the Oxygen-Refit pack by nanolx.org.
He included a file within the icon pack, which refers to the LGPL3.
Specifically, this part seems important:

- If you modify a copy of the Library [...] then you may convey a copy of the modified version:

1- under this License [release your modified copy with the same license the original author released his work, LGP3]

2- under the GNU GPL, with none of the additional permissions of this License applicable to that copy

I am only doing what most people here are doing: I release my "collector-work" with the same license the others' works are released with.
Or, maybe better, I release Hydroxygen with the same license nanolx releases his Oxygen-Refit.

I know that drawing by yourself every iconset, icon per icon, is a hard work.
I also do this in a minor part. The folders icons, the desktop icon and some other included within the Hydroxygen pack are 100% my own work.
I know, it's not ALL the complete package, but hey... everyone's collecting, why can't I?

If you find this procedure something to be sad or if you have any question about this kind of general attitude, you'd better ask to the gnome-look admin.
If you'd try to ask everyone who collects intead of creating by himself, you'd only fill you outbox mail and you won't be happier.

I know, art is not copying, but making better copies. This is what I think [but it's not what you also have to think!]
If you don't think so, please refer to gnome-look admins. - Sep 18 2008

Alright, this comment is more comprehensive and deatailed that the previous one.

Your blurry experiencing is caused by non vectorial icons.
All the icons within this pack [and many other ones here in gnome-look] are in PNG format, not in SVG or something like that.

If you want to grab some eyecandy SVG iconset, just try to look for "Oxygen" within the kdebase-runtime tarball available here: ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/4.1.1/src

All those icons are in SVG format, so you should be able to perfectly see your icons even in 24x24 resolution.

I am sorry you don't like my iconset, but I hope I will be able to release a SVG format iconset next in the future.

Many thanks for your feedback. - Sep 17 2008
