Thanks for the feedback xep.

which system has been used for your test? I am using Kubuntu 7.04 (gcc 4.1.2 with Qt4.2.3) and Windows XP using MinGW 4 (gcc 4.1) and Qt 4.3.0. I would like to get feedback from non Linux/Windows users. I will update the changelog for version 0.0.5 to mention that 4.2 and 4.3 are supported.

I would like to get feedback about the quality of the documentation. I have spend a lot of time working on it, and I would like to know if it's worth it. - Jun 30 2007

KDE 3.5 Themes by avieth 6 comments

How should I install this theme? I untared this tgz and tried to install the kth file using the Theme Manager in KDE. It does not work on KDE 3.4.1 (Debian packages) and 3.5 (self compiled SVN) Thanks! - Oct 03 2005

I have seen it, and yet I do not like how it behaves. Too quite.

I expected the theme manager to be loaded with my theme to see that it was loaded correctly.

I also saw two menu entries with the same meaning while right clicking an option. - Jul 16 2004

KDE 3.5 Themes by elcuco 9 comments

I have uploaded new themems and checked that the kth files have previews. They all have previwes.

However, the kthememanager for kde 3.3 does not install new themes fr me, and clicking the themes on konqui has no effect. On 3.2, I could not install the package manager since I use PCLinuxOS which has a different menu structure then the official KDE. If anyone has a package for Mandrake, please tell me.

To install themes do this:
* rename the themes to *.tgz
* unpack the tarball contents into ~/.kde/share/apps/kthememanager/themes

You should be able to see the previews now. If you have problems please report. - Jul 16 2004

ok... small summary...

THIS IS NOT FOR KDE! BUT FOR THE BOOTSPLASH IN LINUX! see for more info.... newbies... duah...

Ok, I tested your app in my Mandrake, and it definetly does not work. I am sure mine does not work in SUSE. Apparently the distros take different approach for setting the bootsplash theme.

In Mandrake:
"/usr/share/bootsplash/scripts/switch-themes -l"
gives you the list of themes available. See my code for more info (ignore tabs and stuff). I used
"/usr/share/bootsplash/themes/$name/images/bootsplash-800x600.jpg "
for displaying something on the screen.

To change the theme, I did:
"/usr/share/bootsplash/scripts/switch-themes $name"

Hopefully you can fix your app to work in Mandrake as well. If you explain to me how does this thing work in SUSE, I will hack my own program to work on SUSE.

For detecting Mandrake, look for /etc/mandrake-release (or grep in redhat release for mandrake). - Mar 10 2004

i dont expect every one in the world to know all the apps available.

I was thinking of wrapping the app in some bash to detect if it's root or not.

What do you think of adding to your app? - Mar 07 2004

I made such programa few weeks ago... reported that to the PCLinuxOS mailing list:

Mine was written in pure QT. and it's very similar to yours. Mine does not have an option for install. I will think about adding one. Competition is good...

Here, enjoy:
