Yes, when Shiki-Colors was released in 2008, it instantly became my favorite theme series. No one knows what happened with the original creator of those themes, but this is my attempt to keep its legacy alive, improved, and expanded on. So yes, you could say I am a bit old-fashioned. - Apr 20 2021

Another bug I found in Thunar: Unless you're using a dark theme, the selected_fg_color matches the fg_color when a folder is highlighted. For example, I'm getting black text on blue when it should be white text on blue. - Feb 01 2021

I LOVE this app! I have, however, noticed a bug. When the header and background colors are different, I have noticed that the panel gets styled differently between GTK2 and GTK3. In Xfce 4.14, 4.12, and maybe even further back, this makes it look like a total train wreck. For the record, I think how it's done on the GTK3 side in that situation should prevail.

Also, I have a feature request: Could you add the ability to have gradient selected_bg_colors in menus and progressbars and the ability to select our own slider, scrollbar, and progress bar look and feel?

Other than that, it's an awesome time saver when creating themes! Thanx for creating it! :-) - Jan 14 2021

Thank you for all the hard work you do on this and the Obsidian icon themes. Right now, I'm in the middle of creating a series of GTK themes to color-match your icon themes, much like Shiki-Colors used to do with the GNOME-Colors icons , based on the default theme of Ubuntu Mate, which is what I'm using right now. - Apr 30 2019

So far, I like what I'm seeing, although I did notice a few bugs:

1) The icon themes all had "*Theme Name*" as their icon names.

2) Having installed the themes in /usr/share/icons and /usr/share/themes, respectively, I found that they weren't showing up in MATE's theme list. Going back to those folders, I noticed that the permissions weren't allowing regular users to access them.

3) On the light themes, the taskbar still had a dark background.

Don't get me wrong, I like what you've done here, it just needs a little polishing up. :-)

Oh, and I would also like to see orange and teal variants of this theme series, too. - Apr 10 2019

I like what I'm seeing here. I was a huge fan of the Shiki Colors/GNOME-Colors GTK & icon theme series until GTK3 came along and screwed up everything. But this could easily replace that, as I do see quite a few similarities there plus it comes in multiple colors, too. As an LXDE user, I have found where there's an Ambiance-like theme for Openbox, so once more color variations are released, I will likely create some Openbox themes with multiple color variations as well. I'm not ready to download this just yet (I'd like to see more color variations available before I do that), but this is a project I will definitely be watching and eventually downloading. Thanx for uploading! :-) - Aug 17 2018

I don't know what you did, but these themes screwed up my system (I'm running Linux Lite, which uses Xfce for its default desktop). After I installed your themes, the theme selector was completely unusable, leaving me with no choice but to completely uninstall them in order to restore law and order. I love the look of them...but they're unusable -- sorry! :-( - Oct 28 2017

LX Colors Revival

Openbox Themes by fredbird67 3 comments

For Openbox and LXDE, yes.

That said, I tried LXQt yesterday, which is the Qt-based successor of LXDE. Since I found it impossible to get EXACTLY the look I wanted, at least with LXQt in its current form, I have decided to switch to Xfce as my desktop of choice, at least for the time being. Whenever I get a chance, hopefully in the next couple of weeks, I'm going to make Xfwm borders for these themes, too. But don't worry -- I'll keep the Openbox themes in there too, as part of the package. And, of course, once LXQt matures, I do plan to take another look at it again in a year or two. - Jul 02 2016

Clearlooks is probably the most usable GTK theme ever created. To me, most modern themes have scrollbars that are too narrow and are missing the stepper buttons. Oh, and I have never liked the flat look of most modern themes, either. This, OTOH -- just right. ;-) - Dec 14 2015

Well done, my friend. I especially love the stripes in the progress bars, which I have missed ever since the GTK devs, in their (cough, cough) infinite wisdom, gave us GTK3. In fact, I'm tempted to experiment with making this the basis for my own themes whenever I get a chance. - Oct 14 2015

I've never liked the flat themes at all. Just because Microsoft did it for Windows 8, does that mean that those of us in Linux-land have to use flat themes, too? I for one think not.

While I personally am not a KDE user (I use LXDE), I have to say I love this theme, and in fact, once LXDE is completely ported over to Qt and thus becoming LXQt, I will more than likely download this theme then. - Jul 20 2015

I voted up for where your heart is (I too have tried to do red, white, and blue themes before, only to get a lot of negative votes), but I too am forced to say that it might be something I'd use for around the Fourth of July, but not for everyday use. Nice effort, though. I guess this is just one of those things where one still has yet to stumble across THE right combination in order to pull something off like this... - Dec 30 2013

Sorry to see you delete these fine themes, but I understand your frustration with GNOME. I'm an ex-GNOME user myself that left in mid-2010 when I saw previews of GNOME 3 and did not like what I saw coming down the pike, and switched to Xfce -- haven't regretted it at all, at least not so far. Besides, I read a story here while back on about this very issue you're becoming frustrated with in GNOME 3, and I feel your pain.

Unlike GNOME 3, Xfce is still GTK2-based and is expected to continue to be so for at least another year or so, but can run GTK3 apps, although, of course, for those to display properly, you need GTK3-compatible themes for them. Since Xfce has stuck with the GTK2 base for now, all this breakage in GNOME every time you turn around isn't a problem with Xfce, at least not for now, anyways.

Therefore, I can recommend Xfce if you decide to jump ship from GNOME. About the only major difference as far as folder/archive contents go is that Xfce's titlebar is known as Xfwm, and the folder that Xfwm themes are stored in is xfwm4. Other than that, it's like putting together a theme for GNOME.

Or, if you wanna say heck with it, I've downloaded your themes onto my flash drive and, whenever I get a chance, I'll play around with 'em and see what I can do. But like you, I agree, I think the constant breakage of GTK3 themes every time GNOME is updated is uncalled for. - Jan 25 2013

Wow...I am humbled. Never did I ever in my wildest dreams expect a theme I created to be the DEFAULT theme in a Linux distribution. Thank you very much, I consider it an honor. Funny thing is, I'm not even an Openbox user (Xfce is my favorite desktop). LOL

BTW, I have an idea for Linux distribution I've been working on in my spare time myself, although I'm going with the blue version of a theme I created just this past week (it's on Xfce-Look, BTW) as its default theme. - Jan 20 2013
zonColor Themes Pack

For those having problems switching back to other themes after installing this theme pack, what desktop(s) are yuns using? Are those of you having problems using GNOME, Unity, Cinnamon, Mate, Xfce, LXDE, one of the WMs...?

The reason I ask is I'm using Xfce and would like to download this theme pack. But after reading comments about these themes hijacking everyone's other themes, I decided to not do so until I see if any of my fellow Xfce users have reported that this theme pack screws up Xfce, and if it does, then this is obviously a HUGE deal-breaker. - Jan 07 2013

Please delete this. The Lord convicted me 2 years ago about this very thing in my life and I do not need or want this hanging around here as a source of potential temptation (Matthew 5:27-30).

Even though my personal desktop of choice is Xfce, I still come here frequently to GNOME-Look for new GTK3 and icon themes and wallpapers. But if you don't delete this, then I will be forced by conscience to no longer visit GNOME-Look or upload anything here, because this material does NOT belong here. In fact, if I ran this site, I would delete your account IMMEDIATELY.

If nothing else, please read Matthew 18:6 and take it to heart -- Jesus had some pretty strong words to say about those who encourage others to sin. - Sep 28 2012

Naturally, I can see this as being a favorite of little girls, although I do have one suggestion for improvement: I couldn't help but notice that you have white text on a pink background in the panel.
