Another suggestion: klicking a category will result in loading of the picture files. On older computers this takes some time sometimes (depending on the amount of icons). It would be nice to cache the pictures so they don't need to be reloaded when I switch categories. The cache can be deletet when the dialog is closed. - Feb 21 2006

I would also doubt that any crash you experienced is triggered by qt. It is rather probable that it is caused by your inability to manage and install software than the fact that qt is "a piece of shit".
Concerning azureus, it is good software indeed but eats my memory i want to use for something else. This is due to the design of java runtime und bindings under linux. So _this_ is a piece of shit.
I encourage the developer to continue the developement of ktorrent because it seems very promising to me!
Go on. - Jan 22 2006
No really, screenshots are candy but at least _some_ text is obligatory.
However, good work... - Nov 21 2005

Amarok 1.x Scripts by AndrasGBekes 4 comments

Various KDE 1.-4. Improvements by nunogomez 11 comments
Because under UNIX, everything is file-based, I would suggest this generic approach:
Each directory created under ~/Desktop gets an own section on the Desktop, this would also make them avaible within other window-managers. If you don't like that, you can specify a different Desktop directory in KDE.

Amarok 1.x Scripts by AndrasGBekes 4 comments
could be:
pause(secs)
shutdown(over kdm)
jump(no. of tracks)
shell command(command line)
changevolume(new volume or steps to increase)
exitamarok
restartplaylist (would replace toggle button)
...
This would be a really powerful approach to make amarok the most extensible and usable player in the world. - Oct 25 2005

I have done so and it works just fine in konqueror.
I don't know where else it is used in kde, but just adding an -e switch to the script would make it compatible to most virtual terminal calls. So this should work quite genericly. - Oct 23 2005

Some things that did work before, but don't in this version are:
1. my iwlist/iwconfig shows this error message above each output, but this can be changed by redirecting the sterr output to /dev/null:
Warning: Driver for device eth2 has been compiled with version 17
of Wireless Extension, while this program supports up to version 16.
Some things may be broken...
Unfortunately a /sbin/iwlist 2> /dev/null doesn't work in the settings, so I had to write a wrapper script that does it for me.
2. Besides the essid column, no one can be resized.
3. Programm still reports mode: Master instead of mode: Managed with orinoco_cs module. iwconfig output is ok, so how do you obtain the mode?
I hope you can fix these things. Everything else is just what I needed :) - Apr 18 2005

kcmshell kdmtheme says no module found. kcmshell background e. g. works fine.
But, kcmshell --list returns a blank list - Apr 08 2005

A working aquivalent for the console would be good.
For the next future I only propose:
- kicker applet (optional)
- option: don't ask for key if its name matches the network essid (in most cases that is obvious); maybe a checkbox for each key
- automatic mode which connects without user interaction by a certain set of rules
rules could be: a priority number assigned to each network, but this would require a remember function or the simplest: prefere open networks. - Apr 03 2005

- Having a rank list and being able to connect automaticly to preferrend networks
- Save each profile in one configuration file to easily exchange profiles from one user/computer to another
- Being independent from X and or console frontends (which doesn't mean they are not useful)
- Support encrypted und unencrypted network connections
- Being able to execute programs after establishment of connection (e.g. VPN client)
If more projects would support the same profile files, it would be best!
This is my user opinion after many many problems with such programs. - Mar 15 2005

Changing to installed splashscreen seems ok but does not work, it still boots with previously from mandrake control center selected boot splash.
However, nice program. I wished distributors could unify the way those splash screens work. - Feb 22 2005

Another tip is, to keep the ability of manually editing/inserting the users name. This will avoid to switch to the mouse when one is used to work with the keyboard.
Since you have designed a nice side graphic there is no need to remove it, but please don't let it get too huge, it looks oversized then.
Another suggestion of mine for those who like eye candy ist the integration of the kdm login user graphics for user selection. This might bloat the code though.
Please keep on doing what you planned. - Feb 12 2005
