Keep at it, you Inkscape in the right hands can make some powerful stuff. I don't want to brag... so I won't.

But that's a step in the right direction, and I'm always happy to see more Inkscape artists.

Maybe add the "Or I'll Shoot" bit to the image, might make it funnier. - Aug 27 2006

Hey,

There appears to be a small bug with your theme. If you open a GUI program through terminal, it gives this error (but loads everything anyways, and everything looks fine):

.themes/Elegance/gtk-2.0/gtkrc:1249: Unable to locate image file in pixmap_path: "Range/null.png"

This might just be me, but I re-installed Ubuntu yesterday, so I doubt that anything is buggered. - Aug 20 2006

Vista Classic

Beryl/Emerald Themes by QUASARFREAK 15 comments

Vista-Classic? That's a funny name.

It's very funny because Vista's not even out and it's already got classic attached to it's name.

But then again, when I think of classic, I think, 'old.' (And sometimes good and original, but that doesn't fit)

The point is that Vista is old before it comes out -- the code is shite, the features are stolen from Mac and Linux, and there is nothing new, except the 15 gigs of space that it needs, and the brand new 1000$+ computer.

Bit of a tangent. I do like the themeing that you've done. I swear: our clone themes will be better than the Windows one at this rate. They are already as good and nearly identical, for a fraction of the resources. - Jul 23 2006

Gaim Guifications, Ubuntu Theme

Various Gnome Stuff by bedi-pomerode 2 comments

I liked this, and voted it up. However, I think that it would be better if it were simpler. You don't need "GAIM" as well as the Gaim Icon -- actually, you don't need either of those. I think it would be better if you just had the person's picture, and the name with what they are saying. - Jul 15 2006

Yeah, this would be prefect if you replaced the letters.

And that's what I was getting at about the Ubuntu logo I made you. I don't like yours, and it doesn't scale well (get larger or smaller), so I made you one that might work better.

With Inkscape, you can make it any size at all, and change the look, colouts, etc.

If you want help with Inkscape, read the tutorials, or just get me to do whatever you want. It takes literally a minute to do a size change. - Jun 22 2006

I find this image to be crowded, so no woman really stands out. Therefore, we end up with a fairly bland image.Combine this with black and white and you have a certainty of bland.

I personally think that Linux is Linux, and you can do virtually the same things on all Linuxes.

Also, apt is a more organized system, so if you managed to bugger up your dependancies, you must be good.

To me, the only difference from one Linux to another is what tools it comes packaged with. I personally switched from Fedora to Ububtu, because I knew how to do all those command line things on Fedora, but why would I when I can do it easier with a GUI?

Basically, for me, it got to the point where I had learned a ton about Linux, and just wanted something that worked well, rather than something that was a challenge.

Probably not for everyone, but for me, I prefer the easier route when I have something that needs to be done. It's like automatix vs. doing everything by command line manually. - Jun 02 2006

Image Preview In File Choose Mockup

Various Gnome Stuff by garoth 6 comments

The picasa style one wouldn't slow down your computer if you didn't make the images glide. The gliding could be a setting in a config somewhere, and since we're moving to more advanced rendering systems on Linux, this small piece of animation wouldn't cost the system anything.

But for old machienes, you could have it set so that it doesn't glide - just switch images when you go down one.

As for the three being confusing... somewhat, but I hoped that the fading out would make it obvious what was going on. If my image is confusing, then you could fade it so that it's just the tip of an image.

Thanks for your comment, it made me consider this my stand on this, but I don't see them as overly valid. Argument is good for making a good idea, though. - May 27 2006

Well....

It's not technically a port. What google did was package the windows version with a modified version of wine, put together by crossover office. This was cool, though, because it led to Google engineers doing 100+ revisions to wine, making that piece of software better.

But I tried it out yesterday when it came out, and a) works great although noticably slower than the Win version on my computer , b) comes as a .deb .bin or .rpm, and c) puts itself into the gnome menu very well.

So, basically, if you didn't know what it is that google did, then you couldn't tell. It was very smooth - download deb on my dapper drake machiene, install, and everything worked just like on Windows. - May 27 2006

Yeah, man. Ultrasweet. This is really handy, and I don't know why a) the templates folder is empty to begin with and b) why the hell it is put into your home folder as a visible folder. I'd prefer it as either a hidden folder or somewhere else altogether. You can't access it for the first time that way, so most people would probably be more likely not to use it... it ends up wasting /home/user space. - May 16 2006

I've got nothing against Photoshop, especially when it's running on Linux.

However, if you know photoshop, learning the Gimp is a matter of finding where those same pieces are. The Gimp's nearly identical, except that things are in different places. It shouldn't take long to get used to it, so don't fret. I had no trouble picking up the gimp (although, I'm no professional). - May 14 2006

I think that a) there should be a mature filter and people would click a check box for that and you could put that in the filters on the right.

b) I don't care what's on this site as long as it's good. Why would I want to have to a half porn site to get my Linux GDM's? As for the little kiddies using Linux (what?), they'll see this eventually, and in Europe (in a lot of places), sex is taught at a much earlier age. But for the people in America who can't stand to see some coloured pixels arranged in a certain order, use the filter I proposed. If someone thinks this is really a good idea, send it on to an admin with your thumbs up to it. - Apr 30 2006

Fantastic use of Fyre (I think that's what does it, no?), really quite nice, I love the colours and sharpness.

Dislike: the text. It's blurry where as the rest of this is really sharp. I would prefer it to be sharper, still faded, and fitting the curve of the image. That, I think, would make it fit. - Apr 22 2006
