GTK2 Themes by gashcrumb 5 comments

This is a nice theme (especially for a first timer). I really like it man.

Also, I have to comment that this is the true spirit of the Linux community. 'Something missing? Make your own. Did a good job at it? Share it with the world.'

This contribution is a continuation of that spirit. Remember guys, even if you can't code then you can still help Linux and carry on the Linux spirit. - Oct 05 2005

The background does resemble the Vista one, but the metacity theme isn't really that similar, and that's what you get with this theme when you download it, not the background. - Oct 04 2005

Hey, I like a lot of your icons, they are really cool. I also like that you're making them vector art, so they go with the new Gnome and GTK releases that are coming out. I also plain like the vector art rather than the bitmaps under any circumstances.

The one thing that I hate in your theme is the folders. All of them. They are terrible, they don't fit with the theme and they are all around bad.

This would be a great theme if you changed the folder icons to something more elegant and simple. - Sep 04 2005

Tomboy is a new mono system that is pretty much an advanced notepad. You know, that yellow stickies thing?

What that kind of thing allows you to do is click on the tomboy icon (or sticky applet icon) and then just type up a message and put it on your desktop, but not as a file, but as a little note. This is very convenient because it means that you can write reminders that just kind of sit there on your desktop.

Just incase you didn't know... - Sep 03 2005

I like the background, and I have downloaded it.

But I'm curious about the rest of your screenshot.

Can you please tell me about what OS/distro you are using, what desktop manager you are using, and what some of the elements are. I was especially pleased with your desktop switcher and the overall smooth feel of it. - Jun 25 2005

Aurora Desktop Environment

I think that it would be kind of interesting if instead of like side bars and menus, you could have widgets that sit on your desktop (wherever you put them) and have drop-down menus where needed.

The problem with this is that it's a bit less organized, although possibly more attractive.

However, I maintain that in order for any desktop to be successful, you need to have a smooth, attractive look. For a linux desktop to be successful, you need a smooth attractive, functional look that isn't a windows clone. (I know that you don't want the windows clone either, but I'm just re-inforcing.)

I think that it's great that youre asking the community what they want in the DE. Thats how a desktop should be built. Stick with it, you may end up creating something great. - Jun 12 2005

I'm not sure why everyone seems to dislike this splash. I though it was pretty cool. The one thing I don't like is the font. It doesn't really work with the rest of the image. - Jun 08 2005

I'm just not a fan of grey themes. Reminds me too much of Windows 98 or 95. Kind of plain and boring. But I like the detail and functionality of your theme. - Jun 08 2005

I like what you have there, but I would also like to know how you managed the mac bar? Are you running a mac, because you could fool me. If you are running Linux, can you please explain how or with what?

Also, please tell me where you get your backgound and images in your folder. They are beautiful. - Jun 01 2005

Wallpaper Other by Zhukov 3 comments

Agreed, I was about to mention it before I saw this reply.

It should be more like:

Most think alike, and travel the same paths daily.
Others think freely and go wherever they want, whenever they want.

They are the Linux community.

Some things that are wrong with yours are:
-different has two f's
-after asked makes no sence, but after they are asked does.

Otherwise, I cannot complain. Aside from minor spelling and grammar errors, this is good. - Jun 01 2005
