:) i hope it was a good dream!

well, it should be center aligned. right now all the arranging of the items is done automatically by the layout. in the next version i hope you'll be able to resize manually the rows and columns at your will. - Sep 17 2009

that isn't an error, it is a warning that doesn't stop the cmake process. there must be in the output an error saying you're missing some package - Sep 17 2009

probably you didn't tell to cmake the right install prefix. use cmake -D_CMAKE_PREFIX=`kde4-config --prefix` .
then compile and run kbuildycoca4 and you should see it. - Sep 06 2009

if you're using 1.1 or later, i dont know :) it uses the kde libraries to mount it, and i don't know how to change the options. the method i use is Solid::StoraceAccess::setup(), if you want to search.
If you use a previous version, you just remove the option in the file devicemanager.cpp, in the mountDevice() method. - Sep 03 2009

i proposed the patch to the reviewboard, and we're now discussing it. it will be in KDE 4.4.
For the idea I don't know. because the icons are png and i don't think you can animate them. there could be other ways to do it, but anyway i'm not able to draw, especially with the pc, so i'd need someone to do the icons - Sep 02 2009

these messages are not related to your problem.
You should instead see messages like this:
DeviceManager::dataUpdated: DeviceManager::solidDeviceEngine updated "/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_9A56837456835045"
Do you see them? they should be one per device. - Aug 19 2009

I just tried on my pc. I added the line "options << "utf8";" and, according to /etc/mtab, my fat pendrive is mounted with the utf8 option. But I don't know how to test it with amarok.
Are you sure that, after you applied the patch, you tried the patched plasmoid? Because I noticed that sometimes plasma loads the old versions of the plasmoids just upgraded, because, I think, they are still in memory. - Aug 07 2009

i dont't know. the code itself that manages the mounting of the devices wasn't written by me but by strobeam who wrote the device notifier with automount.
maybe we should ask him. - Aug 04 2009

I don't set the background and the foreground colour directly, but it's all managed by the Plasma::Delegate, so I'd have to reimplement some parts of it.
But since 4.3 is going to be released soon I don't think it is so important. - Jul 31 2009

I'm not sure about the usefulness of that file, but the CMakeLists.txt of the official Device Notifier (http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/KDE/kdebase/workspace/plasma/applets/devicenotifier/CMakeLists.txt?view=markup) installs it too.
Anyway if it is causing troubles to you, you can simply comment the last line in CMakeLists.txt, the plasmoid will work without problems. - Jul 06 2009

I'm thinking on a change that I could do to the plasmoid:
when there are more than one action for a device, hovering it with the mouse will show the string "x actions for this device", and clicking on it will show them.

But if there is one action only the string will say already what the action is. So, does it make sense to show the only action available, and so requesting another click? - Jun 06 2009

Plasma 4 Extensions by giucam 174 comments

yes, i took inspiration from your mockup for this plasmoid, and still i think the mockup is really prettier then the reality.

1, 5) you can do it right now. the actions are contracted by default, and clicking on a device you expand them. click another time and they hide.

2, 3, 5) now i don't have so much time, but it is probable i'll add them. - Jun 06 2009

do you know what that getuid() on line 63 of the patch is? because there isn't a fuction with this name, nor in my code nor in the code of the device notifier with automount, and, while i can compile it, i can't compile my device manager - Jun 04 2009

could you please post a screenshot?
this is very strange, because the only thing i had to do in order to see the not removable devices was to remove an if statement that selected the removable ones, and the plasmoid shouldn't know which are removable and which are not.
by the way, what version of kde do you use? i'm using kde trunk and i took the code of the device notifier from that version. - Jun 01 2009

sorry for the long delay.
i was able to test it on another pc, and i got the problem, but still i don't understand why on my main pc it works.
anyway, if you comment the line 43 in wolflabel.cpp and recompile it you'll see the info again. but in that way the labels, when scrolling, will go over the other things that are on its left or right.
in my opinion this is a qt or plasma bug, even because i tried with the plasmoidviewer and using that playwolf worked out of the box.
i'll do some research however. - May 25 2009

the problem is not cmake, but this:
"CMake Error at /usr/share/cmake/Modules/FindKDE4.cmake:84 (MESSAGE):

you seem to don't have the kde headers installed. i never used fedora, but usually the package is called kdelibs-dev - Apr 19 2009
