I like it, nice work. The look is very clean and a little bit understated which is a good alternative to most of what is released these days. Don't be discourage by the comments or your score. Thanks for the source. So many artist forget or purposely leave out the source files because they're afraid of people modifying their work and posting something similar. However, that's the whole purpose of open source; sharing the concept and watching as your work gives birth to a whole slew of new art. Good artist and developers know to give credit to the original creator and the rest learn after somone rips their work and never mentions their name (payback is a thing of beauty).

I've created an incredible openSUSE wallpaper with the samples you've posted over the past couple of days, and if I find the time to post it, I'll be certain to link back to all the files that you provided that sparked the inspiration. I havn't been inspired to make any art until i saw your submissions. - Mar 13 2007

First off, to claim that these icons have been developed by some company is a complete joke. Half of these icons come from my Exquisite and OS-L icon sets and several other icon set that have appeared on this website. Now those sets are free for everyone to use, but don't make the mistake of thinking any company is going to take credit for my work or attempt to turn a profit from it.

For those that want a clear understanding of why this icon set is simply a collection of other peoples work, check out the following two set and tell me if you notice anything similar;

I love this little pager, but I have a problem. Whenever my desktop powers down, on resume, if I have elected to have the name of each desktop appear in each pager window, it reverts to showing desktop numbers. For instance if destop one is labeled web, upon resume, it will revert to showing 1 instead of web. It would also be nice to have the option of displaying the walpaper associated with each desktop in the pager windows while docked in the taskbar. i know you can lauch the pager independantly, but most pagers still alow you to see the desktop wallpaper while docked (like the default kde pager); this is just a request. - Mar 30 2006 improvement

Can you provide a link to version 0.7.1? - Feb 05 2006
The second link should have been the following, sorry about that: - Jan 24 2006
Let me clarify the problem. When I enable kompmanager, it draws a dropshadow around every window. SuperKaramba allows a theme creator to set the width and Height of the window that will contain the widget. In DBCalendar, I think the size of the window is about 144x248 fully expeanded while the widget graphics that youve created are somwhat smaller than that size. As a result, kompmanager is drawing a dropshadow around the window contianing the widget. Now I could decompress the theme and shrink the widow size youve set in the theme file to be equivalent to the gaphics you've created (hack to achieve the desired effect shown in the second link) or I can ask Kompmanager not to draw a shadow around the window conatining the widget (dcop call to achieve this effect - dcop kwin default set Unshadowed `xwininfo -int|grep "xwininfo: Window id:")

I'd prefer to ask kompmanager not to draw a shadow around karamba widgets, because that allows theme creators to get more elaborate with the graphics used to create widgets, but every time I click on the widget kompmanager redraws a shadow around it as soon as it get the focus. This redrawing behavior didn't occur unil I upgraded to the latest and greates version of KDE that was released last night. Shrinking the window size around the widget is the simplest fix though.
- Jan 24 2006
In the latest KDE 3.5 cvs release (running mandriva cooker version by the way), even when I remove the dropshadow created by Kompmanager, as soon as this widget gets the focus again, the shadow is restored. In previous versions of KDE, I could run Superkaramba widgets unshadowed. Any idea of how to change this. Now you could shrink the widget size to fit the grapics so that Kompmanager draws the shadow instead of incuding a drop shadow in the graphics. Or, by chance might you know of a way to get superkaramba to display widgets minus kompmanager drop shadows? - Jan 23 2006
The Calendar is comming along very well. I look forward to seeing just how far you can push this theme. Visually, the calendar is beautiful. If you add a few multimedia features like those incorporated in LW (sound, improved animation as you mentioned), along with the other items in your todo list I think you'll have at the very least, the second best theme available (Everyone needs the weather forcast, even more so than knowing the date -LW #1).

If I might make one suggestion, I would say that you should add a dialog box that allows a user to configure the fonts in each section. I had no problem editing the scrpt to get the fonts to fit the widget, but everyone isn't so confortable playing around with the script. LW makes changing the font color configurable with such a dialog box.

Also, although I know that the dashboard calendar is the inspiration for this theme, but have you considered adding the time to this theme(possibly an option) in the open space below the dates(centered and the same font size as the days) to add a uniqueness to the calendar.

Great work thus far! - May 19 2005

Well, I vote for interface number two in your pdf document, but I would like to suggest a few changes. Most people will include the information for calls in their contact meta data, but for those instances in which you have to use the number pad, I would use a dropdown panel from the bottom of the form to hold the number pad. Since it appears your using qt I would suggest going with a shpe changing form to implement this change. That way, your interface would remain clean and you'd have plenty of space to display user information, but when the number pad was needed, it would be availible with the push of a button. The number pad is really only there for dramatic effect anyway, since a user could easily enter the number in the Dial text box, but for people that are new to using the software the number pad is a nice touch. Navigating through speech menus can occur, but it's not somthing that hgappens everyday, so I'd still argue that the number pad should appear on a drop panel (Panel that slides out from the bottom or left/right side of the form). I also prefer the tool buttons on top (as shown in the second display) as opposed to the side, because then the form is left/Right hand neutral. That's also why I sugested having the number pad slide out from the bottom of the form when visible. Your very last screen shot in your pdf file appears to be overly crouded. Stick with interface number two. I hope these suggestions help. - Oct 24 2005

Mind sending me your gimp files for creating the Aero background?

I have the original Aero-sources posted by AdrienV, but I'd like to use your sources to rapidly create some Aero backgrounds in different colors for the clock. I've epanded on your clock and made the theme totally configurable with a clock alarm, user selectable text color, AM/PM display ability, resizable, and hopefuly, with your help background configurable. I need your sources to maintain the original size of the clock. I could hack together my own, but I'm not trying to upstage your original creation, I just want to expand on it a bit.

By the way, I love the 3D effect you created by slightly shitting the duplicate text. At first I asked myself why you had two text lines, then it clicked in my head. That's a great alternativce to the text shadow.

Great theme by the way! I removed my Kicker clock applet after you posted your theme. - Aug 16 2005

Your missing execute permissions on the script. By default, the script does not have execute permissions. Make sure you run the following as the owner of the file (ls -l)

run the following at the command line:

1. chmod +x scriptname

2. ./scriptname &

3. click on window you want to remove the shadow from.

The script works with kompmanager which is really just xcompmanager with a few kde mods.

Hope this helps. - Aug 02 2005

Thanks for the compliment. Although there are tons of alternate icons to select from, the funny thing about OS-L is that it isn't really complete. I have about another 80 to 100 icons that I have just been to lazy to add. However, in the comming weeks, i'm going to do a big release of another icon set that in my opionion far surpasses OS-L, along with my very first SuperKaramba release, and an update to the Exqusite and H30-D3a icon releases. - Jul 14 2005
Well, inconsistency can be a problem, but OS L wasn't really put together with the idea of having a uniform look and feel. It was assembled to demonstrate the artwork of some of the best icon designers in the world. The photo-realistic look was made very popular by apple, but the icon designers have been creating great icons in that style for years. OS L is just a small sample of what has been produced over the past 2 years in celebration of the artists incredible work. if you would like to achieve a consistent look and feel, you should probably select icons from the set that are similar in design and create a subset which could then be made into a seperate icon set. - Jun 28 2005
